Polamalu looks like a huge Ronnie James Dio in that extended shampoo commercial.

I wish Diego Segui was still with us. He’d be perfect. He died back in June.

(He pitched for the Pilots and the Mariners on their respective Opening Days.)

King FΓ©lix should have the honor. Or Edgar. The Big Unit throwing to Dan Wilson would be great, too.

All the trade paperbacks of Stephen King’s fiction oeuvre. Not pictured: Rage and Never Flinch. These are arranged LtoR, TtoB on two tv trays and a coffee table.

Just finished Never Flinch. In Sep23, I decided to start at Carrie and read through all the Stephen King book length fiction in publication order.

In the meantime, the ALCS is a battle of the 1977 expansion teams.

Ruppert Jones, Enrique Romo, Roy Howell, Jerry Garvin. During this series, it would be fun to have some of the guys from those teams back for pregame activities.

If the World Series ends up being Mariners v Brewers, expect a surge in stories and interest in the 1969 Seattle Pilots. The Ms exist because the Pilots moved to Milwaukee in 1970.

This is unfair to both writers. I find their approaches more affectation than effective. (This likely means I’m an immature reader, I guess.)

So the winner is a Hungarian Pynchon: LΓ‘szlΓ³ Krasznahorkai. (Pynchon is an American Krasznahorkai; it’s omnidirectional.)

DeLillo? Maybe.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie would be a deserving and refreshing recipient.

Watch it be an obscure poet from Tajikistan.

Nobel for Literature:

Hmm? Atwood, Rushdie, Can Xue, Murakami, Murnane, even Atwood seem likely.

But I’m thinking Anne Carson or Louise Erdrich, or a poet from a small country.

Allende would be shocking. Pynchon would be terrible.
