A very expensive black greyhound lies in her foam dog bed, on a duvet and blanket, blissfully unaware of the concept of money. But she is still traumatised by today's vaccination appointment and coming down off drugs.

Ally is regularly asked by Nina's insurance company to spread the good word and drum up new business for them.

Her insurance premium went up by about 𝟏𝟒𝟎% to over £2,800.

This dog is a year older, she has not taken up extreme sports since last renewal.

She had access to the Norwich arts scene inc the Norfolk and Norwich festival. Others were Flavia Coelho, Ayanna Witter-Johnson, The Simon & Garfunkel Revival Band, Staff Benda Bilili and a range of classical. She really misses it.

Ally: I don't much eat fruit pies, as family don't make them and I don't cook. I do get savoury pies though.

I think the tape the vet uses against fur isn't very adhesive, so it isn't too hard to come off. Can't recall if they have something they use. But I'm there Monday for her boosters - I'll ask.

I tried hibiscrub myself in something, and can confirm it feels no different than sticking a foot in water.

Ally: I had to Google it and that is really, really weird. How looks it been since it was removed?

We've done hibiscrub bathing and saline bathing.

My mum does the best paw bathing.

She stirs a jug of diluted disinfectant with Nina's paw whilst singing "stirring the pot, stirring the pot".

Optional additional line is "cooking the leg, cooking the leg".

Waaaaay to much effort ringing a bell, so much easier to just stand there.

It's an excellent statistic I think: 1 out of 3 whippets have been successfully house-trained.

In me and Freddy's defence, we did have terrible starts.

Daddy forgot to shut the living room door today, so I had to have a wee on the corner of the doorway. I had to. It's the rules.

The Trental gets stopped the moment there's any blood as it makes her bleed a lot. Bedding, rugs, carpets, walls & doors. When she one day crosses the rainbow bridge, I'm getting out my pristine duvet sets & the stair & landing carpet gets replaced. I don't line dry our bedding any more...

Her normal daily regime is 3x Nicotinamide 500mg, 3x Coatex capsules, 3x Trental 400mg & 1x Biotin 2.5mg.

I'm guessing you too have declined having a toe amputated to confirm the diagnosis?

Nina broke the 1st claw 24.11.22, & had had 4 removed by 24.12.22 when we all said we reckoned SLO. We felt pretty confident in our unofficial diagnosis under the circs...

Oh, important safety concern if keeping claws: Nina got infection in at least 1 paw at the beginning. The swab results were alarming: Enterococcus and E. coli.

Ally says that as an example of whippet honesty, I should probably mention that neither me or my late brother Freddy have ever managed it.

False. There's been 3 whippets in this household.

Dylan's been perfect since he came home to my peeps. Sadly old age has changed this though 😕.

She goes in high these days for planned trips, but its amazing how much she can still play keep away with her paw when she wants to!

Whippets, I say without any bias, are the very best dogs to have. I also, honestly, say we are well-behaved, stoical, thick-skined and resilient. No-one has ever said "Oh, hell no, not a whippet". We're modest too.
