I have hit my weirdest pre-travel ritual, in which I try to FINALLY finish all the library books I downloaded to my kindle before I got on a plane last time and have been holding captive by keeping the device in airplane mode, only to check out and download MORE books and start over.

My winter coat (Columbia ski jacket, circa 2007) has a dedicated iPod pocket and a little stretchy fabric headphone cord loop just inside the front.

The fascinating thing about the durability of a good Jansport backpack is that they are full of indicators of outdated tech. My backpack has a CD Walkman pouch.
