I watched a bunch of movies while I was sick

He got paid to toss around money by people richer than him, not just posh old-money types but those who had found their way to the top of the tax brackets. He was good at it and had always fallen back on it when he couldn't fully live within his passions. It was nice and impersonal and only required the sort of social science he had already spent years attempting to perfect. Pulling apart and figuring out things and people- how to make them work as he wanted- had always been worth investing in. In his youth it had let him bypass a lot of the more frustrating social dances he had never understood or wanted to be beholden to. Here, it lined his pockets and it kept him stimulated while also largely leaving him alone.
