Wow - those are quite phenomenal headlines given the details of the story.

Ahh look, he’s just a β€˜nerdy’ guy. No harm done.

You need to scroll down to paragraph 13 of the Sky piece to find the full story!

The absolute irony given ACS refuses to have tough conversations with anyone. They’ve folded to every whim of the Trump administration and put out shameful excuses to the community in response.

Prizes must recognize machine contributions to discovery The future of science will be written by humans and machines together. Awards should reflect that reality.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

My delight at seeing MOFs win the Nobel is tinged by sadness that Sir Fraser didn’t live to witness it. He was my introduction to the world of MOFs, and I know he would have been overjoyed.

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.

We have a flexible MOF that only adopts the closed pore state after CO2 adsorption / desorption, but not under high temp or low vacuum (or N2 ads/des). Would love to find more examples to try and help us understand why.

Just a reminder before the β€œbig announcement” today.

Autism was discovered in 1911 and the modern definition of Autism came in 1943.

Tylenol wasn’t widely used until the 1950s.

Anyone trying to tell you that Tylenol causes Autism isn’t someone that should be taken seriously.

Prestige over merit: An adapted audit of LLM bias in peer review Large language models (LLMs) are playing an increasingly integral, though largely informal, role in scholarly peer review. Yet it remains unclear whether LLMs reproduce the biases observed in human de...

Yet again, machine learning β€” even gussied up via the transformer architecture β€” encodes and reinforces societal biases.

This study reveals that LLM-based peer review relies heavily on author institution in its decisions.
