In the official bike parks: very little. There are sensors that track how long a bike has been parked in one place.
I was at the Utrecht one last week at 5:45am, and only 3k spots were occupied, out of 7k typical (iirc) and 12k spots

I'm quite curious about your opinion the bike parks in our stations.
Also, sorry I missed you!

Any mention of Moon child makes me think of horses drowning in swamps

I invite everyone here to grab a drink with their friendly neighborhood Physics professor and ask them about "Einstein is wrong" correspondence.

We only want full professors that embrace the busywork. Jumping through the hoops is the point.

I lost the number of burns in this piece, but this one was particularly well deserved.

Marvelously written story. Not exactly sure what it tells us something about the international weather community, but I feel a bit more hopeful now anyway.

Yes, for teaching, research, and service. It is expressed in student credit hours, and adds up to 100%. Unless you're a lecturer, then it adds up to 150%

My backyard in Cleveland has been saying 74F dew point, 95F absolute temp for an 85F wet bulb. Would not recommend a Hyrox competition.

Just wrapping up my sabbatical in the Netherlands split between Delft(1) and Wageningen (2), while living in Utrecht(3). Could have conceivably visited Amsterdam (4,5), Rotterdam (6), or Leiden (7), all within 1hr public transport door-todoor, all top150 in THE ranking (fwtw).

EGU editor here, but it is super hard to figure out reviewers beyond the obvious. I try, but whenever I ask some senior scientist to review, I expect them to decline and give me a few wonderful unknowns to do the work.

Is that really true? I took out loans and scholarships and worked my way through college in the Netherlands, where tuition is virtually free. But I still had to eat and sleep...
Opportunity cost is a significant part of the college investment for many.

It seems like a matter of time before someone in a stand your ground state shoots them down, and that's going to make a heck of a court case.
