Fatphobia is rampant.

"It’s a particular feeling when a book sinks straight into your bones, and in order to write about it, you have to pull it back out again."

I know it’s a good MG book when I’m tempted to put my head in my hands and groan, “oh honeeyyyy” every other page

Me, an autistic:

Here are your footnotes, mid-conversation.

Here is your citation you didn’t ask for.

Here is the backstory.

Here is the dramatis personae.

Here is the novella about this one little detail that will make this tangent relevant.

Missing: a short summary.

I think the best book to give a young reader is the book you think *they* are going to genuinely like. With fiction, I firmly believe focusing on reading great books is less important than becoming a person who thinks of reading as pleasurable.

Hard fucking same. The way that people talk about homeless people--like pests to be eradicated, or like threats to housed people--sends me into a rage. Treat people like people, you absolute gremlins.

Library patron: “this place is full of deplorables” (read: human beings in rough situations using one of the few places they can go for a/c in 100+ weather) “so I’ll go somewhere else”
Me: okay! Sounds good! 😁

Something about Spotify popping the vaguely unsettling Saja Boys Soda Pop song onto an “energetic happy mix” is so on the nose I can’t even stand it

If you don’t want your kids to leave the religion you raised them in, don’t raise them in a sucky religion that only takes hold if they never learn anything new.

You don’t have a right for your kids not to question you.

Reading a fic for a new ship and finding your NOTP in the middle of it is like biting into an olive in your salad. You can spit out the olive but the taste is still all over

But please fucking THINK. Do you know how bloody and awful civil war would be? Even the bluest states have large swathes of red country. Even the reddest of states have very blue cities.

The most popular thing I ever said on Tumblr was this:

Fanfic is the triumph of character-based relationship building over the need for clever plot or pretty cinematography. It says “I don’t care what they do; I care about what they feel, and how that makes me feel.”

They literally could have asked a librarian for book recs. It’s our job and we love it. Actually I have to be forcibly restrained from giving book recs. WTF

Are we all doing the thing where we all stand in complete and utter support of Carla Hayden (newly sacked by 47)? Damn right we are.
