These are hastily taken photos of the oak trees being planted on Jean Lafitte above Judge Perez by the park. Thirty years from now, it's going to look good.

I voted yes to renew the millage for St. Bernard Parish public schools. Good public schools make my community better and that makes my life better.

Early voting continues until Saturday. Election day is November 15th.

Followed a handmade sign in my neighborhood reading “pumpkin catapult 3 pm” and 15 minutes later discovered I live near the original drummer from Superchunk

The employees of the Capital One bank in front of the Chalmette Walmart are having a pumpkin decorating contest. Tomorrow, you can vote for your favorite. I got a kick out of the three I saw this morning. I'm going back tomorrow to vote because I love this kind of thing.

This is me whenever I remember those DJs and their belief in the dangers of the Chalmette Walmart.

Many years ago, definitely before 2012, I was listening to WTUL. Two DJs were talking about the Chalmette Walmart. One said that you have to be on high alert and not mess around if you go. His co-host agreed you have to stay on your guard there at all times.

I still think about that conversation.
