Panel 1: A father in a blue shirt and khaki pants is holding up the world (represented by a small version of planet Earth) in front of his daughter. The daughter has messy hair with a braid going above the ears on both sides, to the back where it becomes a ponytail, and wears a pink t-shirt and yellow skirt. She is reaching for the world. The father says "Daughter. Like any good father, I want to give you the world."

Panel 2: Closeup of her little pants reaching for the world, which is resting in his big hand.

Panel 3: The father pulls his hand away, out of reach of this little hands, which are now uncertain and defeated. The background darkens.

Panel 4: "... If you can TAKE it from me," says the father. They are now in space, seemingly atop a solid pond reflecting the stars. The father is drippling the world between his legs, stanced up for some 1v1, with a basketball hoop behind him. The daughter looks on in the foreground.

Using LLMs instead of Search Engine is honestly crazy. When I use Search Engines I want to *Search* for what other people posted online specifically. Not to get some hallucinated mess. But I guess people rarely post anything online these days anyway. It's all bots 90% of the time

There's no anomaly here. People, globally, volunteer their time to powerful public goods the moment they're not actively terrified that they'll lose their home, their food, and their freedom. Which means that capitalism requires us all to live in fear, always - because it can't compete with free.

"this movie holds up" means i enjoyed this movie just as much as i did when i first saw it years ago, while "this movie aged well" means the themes in this movie is still very relevant today.

anyone else read "it doesn't hold up" and "it didn't age well" as two different criticisms? like, "holding up" is about enjoyment while "aging well" is about appropriateness.

The "Xbox Game Pass is/isn't profitable" story that's been floating around this week is very silly. Profitability is a squishy metric that any company can manipulate in all sorts of ways with dark accounting wizardry. The metric that matters most to Microsoft is *growth*, not "profitability"

This is why games are made by teams of people. Each individual deeply loves the thing they've been tasked with. It's that culmination of love that makes the finished product great.

If people don't love what they're making, if they feel it deserves to be automated, of course the product suffers.

Debug.Trace

- do notation is good!
- Text is much more efficient than String *and* has a much nicer API
- point free style is cute and fun but please don't use it in actual real world code
- you can use Debug.Trace for print debugging (hackage.haskell.org/package/base...)
- hoogle is awesome

6. Language extensions β€” Glasgow Haskell Compiler 9.13.20250615 User's Guide

since i saw a few people learning haskell again (I should really polish these and put them somewhere easier to link to):

- please use -Wall (for your own sanity)
- the ghc user guide is amazing (ghc.gitlab.haskell.org/ghc/doc/user...)
- the haskell wiki is pretty bad (try to avoid it if possible)
