I think theres a difference in levity in a dark situation- indomitable human spirit and all that- and jokes making light of how serious the situation is. Like, characters sharing in humor and warmth in the blackest of nights is different than a fart joke undercutting a serious emotional moment.

But anyways. I want what they have.

Watching Altered States thinking for the first half hour or so it’ll be a surreal and ambiguous story about the relationship between religion, genetics, and perception. Then he turns into monkey.
