In other words, 95% of returns are going to be extended. Only the most basic ones will be filed in the 60 day filing period (which is really 30 days, because 2/16-3/15 is going to be focused on corporate returns).

Client business is based in State A. In 2024, client has <$1,000 of income from state B, which is reported on 1099 with state withholding.

Do you

A. Pass filing state B, as the tax will be far less than the cost of complying (even if you owe tax);

B. File in State B and take OSTC?

Oh they care about you- as long as they can exploit you. Once they can’t, onto the trash heap you go!

And to be ticky-tack, not all fireworks are banned. Just the good ones. You can buy lame ones, like snakes (if they still exist). Sparklers, yes. Roman candles, no.
