A vintage fire engine, followed by a couple of vintage cars
I normally get wound up by the number of cars while out walking, but today it was a bit different with the vintage car run coming through town.

Some vinyl LPs by Rainbow, Climax Blues Band, Steve Hackett and Ian Gillan Band
East Grinstead record fair and no rain in the morning was a good excuse to take the Honda out for a spin.
Came home with a few bits of 70s/80s #Vinyl but managed to not get carried away.
My postcode ranks as quite deprived, but I suspect that the crime score is bumped up a bit by the inclusion of all of Gatwick airport plus the County Oak shoplifter magnet.

Also the French name for battery was part of the product description, making it even more appropriate somehow.
I remember getting a pack of Duracells with the warning "may cause bum hazard" (or similar) which is a textbook example of bad kerning.
30.10.2025 10:02 β π 47 π 2 π¬ 6 π 0The clock on my motorbike was correct immediately, because it spent all summer on GMT.
I know its ridiculous having it right for the 6 months I don't ride much but wrong for the 6 months I do ride it but that' what you get for buying a bike in the winter and being lazy.
Screen capture from a Wikipedia entry that describes somebody's hobby of collecting Nazi war memorabilia and continues by commenting that he has never been married but nearly got married twice.
Excellent last five words in this part of the Wikipedia entry for Chris Farlowe.
It is like one of those five-word short stories. There is no suggestion of a link with the first paragraph, but you can't help wondering.
Saw some up a ladder by the A264 doing flags at the weekend. Unfortunately my crash helmet was closed so my "wanker" shouts went unheard.
27.10.2025 09:56 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Time to celebrate, because the clock on my motorbike will now show the right time for six months!
26.10.2025 09:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My wife bought me this for my birthday, after some very unsubtle hints, and it now hangs above my desk and makes me smile still.
25.10.2025 17:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This seems to be legit, but I'm desperately hoping it is an elaborate hoax or hack because the timeline is crazy, even by Trump standards.

Only just learnt that Klaus Doldinger died last week. Probably overshadowed by Ace Frehley dying the same day, and Doldinger not being too famous outside Germany, but sad news for those of us with a soft spot for 70s jazz fusion.
23.10.2025 15:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Been thinking about this lately, how a carefully curated collection turns from a prized possession to a burden overnight.
20.10.2025 21:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Nine boxes full of various tablets. Enough to last three months apparently.
Picked up my repeat prescription this week, and the sheer scale of it just makes me feel my age.
Remarkably, only the three small boxes relate to my previous cancer at all. The rest is all down to my calcifying arteries.
A freshly-baked loaf of bread. Smells good. Looks a bit pale, so the next time I will change the setting for that.
Jayne is on a cruise and I have the house to myself for a week, so first thing on the agenda is naturally...
...finally get round to testing my new bread maker!
The results are in and it doesn't look too bad for a first attempt.

Some 1970s vinyl LPS by Jean-Luc Ponty, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Status Quo and Argent
How it started v. how it ended...
24 quid's worth of 1970's vinyl, including the one 'proper' Status Quo LP I was missing and an interesting-looking JEan-Luc Ponty live album.
53 quid now!
18.10.2025 10:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A friend is currently lumbered with 1000+ books, nearly all military-related hardbacks, from a deceased relative.
Anybody know of a dealer who might be interested? A shame if they ended up in a skip.
Me, wearing glasses. The sort with only a rim at the top.
New specs.
Might not look much from your perspective, but from this side of the glass everything looks a lot better.
Will have to go out on the bike tomorrow, now that I can see where I am going.
Pick up my new glasses this afternoon and looking forward to being able to see properly and not squinting a bit to read subtitles on the TV.
17.10.2025 11:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Same here but never been able to find a way to describe it so thanks for "new book inertia". The exception is if I am reading a series of books and start one straight after the last one.
Despite that, still getting through 2 or 3 books a week for the last few years.
At least Chaka Demus & Pliers were on. If I remember rightly, 1993 was a cracker of a year for dancehall.
13.10.2025 22:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Working through the backlog of recorded #totp episodes and came to a sep 1993 show.
First three tracks were Motorhead, Pet Shop Boys and Radiohead.
I was just thinking what a classic it was and then the 4th song came along... Jade??? Then a Lenny Kravitz ballad. What a front-loaded episode!
"Why do petrol stations have to display the prices in lights visible from the road but EV charging points don't?
Not even the ones attached to petrol stations or motorway services. It seems a bit inconsistent."

A strange way to admit that you have never heard Papa Was a Rolling Stone by the temptations.
12.10.2025 22:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I fancied seeing Kraftwerk, but the ticket prices are a bit steep. Maybe I would if I hadn't seen them before but might try and catch Henge instead for about a fifth of the cost.
12.10.2025 18:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The vinyl LP of Public Works and Utilities, the new record from Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan on a turntable. The record is half black and half red.
Royal Mail kept me waiting until 7pm before they delivered this beauty from @warringtonruncorn.com (a belated birthday present to myself)
I was starting to think they had forgotten me.
Dilemma: do I stream the new @warringtonruncorn.com LP now, or wait for the postman to come with my vinyl copy from @normanrecords.com ??
