Step 12: Uninstall game, wipe all local files.

When I say I have terrible luck with technology, this is what I mean.

My social circle consists of a bunch of queer neurodivergent leftists, so this political climate is the most likely topic.

So I'm pretty sure politics is why I find it so difficult to keep being social, given that I'm generally just trying to not drown in this fire hose of a news cycle.

Nobody is "not letting him work" or anything like that. It's not even karma or how many people probably don't want to work with him anymore.

It all comes down to money. Employing him will upset enough people that he's just not profitable.

So, I'm happy to say my daily average is a little over 3k words.

That being said, I am kind of annoyed that something so simple is making such a difference.

Definitely proof that human brains have never stopped being stupid ape brains.

Recently increased my words per session goal to 1k words an hour.

The hope being that forcing a higher word count would require me to have no choice but to completely ignore the desire to edit while I write.

I made something using old bay seasoning* about 5 hours ago, and I've washed my hands 4 times since... And my hands still smell like old bay.

(*Technically it's not old bay, but I made a copy cat blend.)

First year anniversary with my wonderful spouse.

In many ways it's been a long and difficult year... But being married has been the easiest part of it all.

The present and future is terrifying, but I couldn't have chosen a better person to face it all down with.

Minor bunny health scare.

Luckily, last time, the Vet sent us home with enough meds to deal with this issue 4 times over.

So, he's fine now, but how do I explain to a rabbit that just because we CAN deal with it, doesn't mean we WANT to deal with it... So he really should stop freaking us out.

Apparently I'm old now...

Only 1 of 5 of the coffee shop employees this morning even look old enough to drive.

One of them, if seen without contact, I'd have probably guessed is 13.

I mean, the rank smell of shit is still technically a quality...

At first the Scene/Sequel formula seems simplistic and stupid.

As you think more about it, you'll realize it's just how our dumb ape brains naturally format story.

And let me tell you, once you get it down, the story just pours out of you with ease.

With 17 days remaining before our first year anniversary, we finally were able to get my spouse's name change completed.

It's been a veeery long year.

I know so many NBs who would find being called demonic a compliment. Lol

Might just need some clean up and maintenance.

The true slippery slope was the GOP all along.

Or, I guess, lately it's a cliff and for some fucking reason we let them drive the bus.

The best part is that the writing has gotten easier.

Not just because I've outlined this book within an inch of its life.

But more that my general desire to write is so strong that I'm sometimes forcing myself to rein it in as to avoid burning myself out.

At my current writing pace I'm looking at finishing the draft in mid May.

My aspirational writing pace would make it early January.

Current draft: 20,000 words.

With where I'm at in my outline, my final word count will likely be between 200k and 225k

I'm really really trying to keep in mind that I'll be cutting it down through editing, and it isn't too long.

As a cis white dude, I don't know shit about racism. What I think I know, isn't knowing enough.

The best advice I've seen about writing racism into your fiction is to exaggerate it to the uncomfortable extreme... and your result will likely be less racist than our reality.

Of course, that being said, long distance isn't impossible to deal with, as long as both parties are as equally invested to make it work. Which, of course, is its own separate issue.

It's the long distance part that I dislike. lol

As an adult, with a busy life, the threshold to get a physical meetup with long distance always feels like too much.

It's usually a struggle to get together with my friends who live nearby these days. lol

This is exactly like schools teaching flat earth in schools.

NEVER entertain stupid ideas, no matter how "funny" it is to do so.

Ironically joking about fringe beliefs just gives them fuel.

And at this rate, I won't be surprised when people start seriously pushing flat earth education.

Just 6 years ago anti-vaxxers were a laughable fringe group. Now their victory is so total they're setting government policy. This is like if schools started teaching Flat Earth. A complete failure of education and science comms. Kids will die because we couldn't convince their parents of the truth.
