I finished the latest installment of the October Date boss by Seanan McGuire way too late last night.
This series has been with me long enough that it feels like coming home.

Anmeldelse : Jeg har haft Søren som underviser på uni og det or bemærkelsesværdigt så tæt tonen er på hvordan han fortæller ting i virkeligheden. Tonen er uformel men meget saglig. Bogen går hårdt til de stereotyper der overlever on afrikanere populærkulturen

Jeg har lige læst Søren Hein Rasmussens Den sorte bog, som har været på min ønskede siden den kom ud i 2021. Hvis man er den mindste smule interesseret i racisme eller populære kultur i Danmark, så er den bestemt værd at bruge tid på. Bibliotekerne har den.

This is so well deserved! To Shape a Dragon's Breath was one of the very best books I read last year

I want to nominate The Incandescent for the Hugos and I want a special edition!

I was kicking my feet with joy reading the book and I talked to anyone who would listen.

The pacing really worked ! It sucked me in and kept it was not just a rising tide, but me guessing - had real highs and lows throughout. There were very tense action sequences and slow quiet parts.

The Incandescent has me thinking more about being a teacher than my non-fiction course reading for my teacher training seeing your own, profession, this lovingly portrayed, but with teeth is so rare.

It's twisty, dense and has a lot to say on education and on how we as adults view our work. I adored Dr Warden, She is very far from perfect, but she is competence porn the other professionals at work - the in action and so are make mistakes, but not out of a lack of skill.

REVIEW: This book is written for me, right now. I have been sighing for this book for years: A magical school book from the teacher's perspective - and it's fucking good! It's an adult perspective on the whole private boarding school concept.

I kinda wish the setting was less bleak - it's very post-apocalyse + dystopia. I think we are moving towards a revolution.

The book is a bit oddly paged with some long info dump and lore dumps, but it somehow still works - it's like reading an action movie. The humor does not quite hit for me, but I'm still having fun.
