It might even be fair to say that rural areas across the east have a lot in common. I would imagine rural KY is a lot like rural Pennsylvania for instance. Maybe geographic differences are eclipsed by the rural/urban divide. Just spit balling. YMMV.

I’ve lived in Lex for 40 years now. It is different than, say, Versailles. It’s quite a small but cosmopolitan area these days. Truly a great place to live. I’m from Henderson originally. It had a very practical and unassuming midwestern feel although a river town. Louisville is totally different.

I don’t know what “upland south” is supposed to be, but having lived in this area my whole life in Kentucky and traveled throughout it, it’s silly to equate Lexington KY with northern Alabama.
