Wasn’t there mass media hysteria/obsession when Bill Clinton & Loretta Lynch briefly (& stupidly) met on a tarmac 9 years ago? Versus media treating the heads of the “independent” DOJ & FBI meeting at VP’s residence to chat politics & coverups as normal & ordinary. Media not even pretending anymore.

How is it possible that the 🇺🇸 economy has “remained resilient” but also that “cracks are showing”? By definition, that’s not resilient. And by actual facts, the 🇺🇸 economy has not remained resilient: ⬇️ incomes, ⬆️ grocery prices, inflation ⬆️ , gov’t spending ⬆️, BBB adds $4T to deficit. Enough bullshit

Based on some comments, people didn’t realize you were just referencing an article written by someone else 🤣. Appreciate your continued investigative work on Trump’s use of the presidency for 💰 gain. Key for the public to be objectively informed - sadly it’s the exception rather than the rule today.

Trump’s Campaign Manager Has Raked in an Insane Amount of Money How in the world did Chris LaCivita make this much money from a campaign?

Interesting scoop only in that it’s a hell of a bonus for Donilon if Biden stayed in & won! Polling @ the time (& currently) also showed majority of voters didn’t think Trump had the capacity to serve another term yet his top campaign aides raked in💰as well. So the holier than thou take by AT is 💩.

This is a thoughtful article that would be ripe for a post-1988 election deep dive into the party’s failures. But this is 2025. Throw away policy positions at this point. Voters are looking for authenticity & fortitude. Democrats, on the whole, do not have enough of either right now.

Trump Denies He Is Planning to Attempt to Fire Powell The president suggested he could attempt to remove the Fed chair for cause, arguing the central bank spent too much money on renovations of two historic office buildings.

Correct. But it’d still be an illegal act! Also, if anyone went to the bathroom, grabbed a coffee or took the dog for a quick walk around the time the first NYT, WSJ news alert that said Trump was going to fire Powell popped up, you may have missed that he already walked it back 🤡.

$40M is a tiny chunk of a budget that adds $3T-$5T to the debt but that $40M could’ve been used instead for our veterans.

Next time you’re live on one of news media outlets, please suggest that they stop reporting these verbal declarations as actual trade deals. Just because it’s declared, doesn’t mean it’s true!

“[President George H. W. Bush] has raised taxes on the people driving pickup trucks and lowered taxes on the people riding in limousines. We can do better.” Great pull, @billscher.bsky.social

DOGE Has Failed to Halt Increases in Federal Spending Outlays since Trump took office are up 8.7% for all the usual reasons: Social Security, Medicare and other insurance programs.

No. Federal spending is up 8.7% since Trump’s 2025 inauguration. Trump’s federal government is spending more, day to day, than was spent in nine of the last 10 years.

Nicely done, Bill. The qualities you list as ideal for a shadow cabinet are the same I’d want for our 2028 nominee: “red state Dem…accomplished w/ability to speak plainly…fresh ideas that speak to the challenges of the moment.” Glad to see my mayor @freddieoconnell.bsky.social on this list.

Well done, Bill. But isn’t it time we stop referring to them as “budget hawks”? A budget that cuts taxes for the wealthy & doesn’t pay for itself doesn’t make those who voted for it budget hawks - it makes them deficit exploders. Bush & Trump tax cuts = ⬆️ of 55% in federal deficit since 2001.

Couldn’t agree more. Yes - older Dems should retire. Jefferson, Franklin, Adams etc didn’t intend for lifers in Congress. But blaming dead Dems for a bill they’d never support is 💩 & shows a lack of political instincts. If a 🛳️ is sinking (public’s view of this bill), let it sink. Don’t jump on it.

Democratic deaths in the House are not the reason this bill passed. Rs are the reason it passed. The two no show R members would’ve been dragged out of whatever bar they were in to take the vote and Andy Harris would’ve voted yes instead of present. Everything bad that happens is not the Dems fault.

The Stark Math on the GOP Tax Plan: It Doesn’t Cut the Deficit House Republicans advanced the bill late Sunday, but budget analysts across the political spectrum warn that the proposal worsens the U.S. fiscal picture.

Latest CBO estimates: Trump’s 2017 tax cuts will ⬆️ federal deficit by $4T+. Bush & Trump tax cuts added $10T to the debt. W/out them, debt as a % of the economy would be in permanent decline. This bill will not cut the deficit per noted liberal rag the WSJ. Media: let’s still call Rs fiscal hawks.

This is a timed head fake to take attention away from his economic, trade & tax policies. And the fact that the U.S. credit was just downgraded. He’s not stupid when he says insane stuff like this b/c he knows the 🇺🇸 media will take the bait & the focus will shift. He’s been doing this for years.

a man in a suit and tie says i don t think about you at all ALT: a man in a suit and tie says i don t think about you at all

No one is mad @ you. No one really thinks about you. But when you, a member of the press, tries to make a cancer diagnosis & cognitive fitness the same thing, expect people to call you out on it. This is a common approach by the press - write something stupid & get defensive when called out on it.

Any variation of Beshear & Warnock in 2028 would be tough to beat - two young, red state Dems who are work horses & not show horses. Beshear is Bill Clinton w/out the baggage. Warnock has been extremely effective & bipartisan in the Senate. But that combo might make too much sense for the Dems.

I suppose just as soon as a winning strategy is presented! Tough to argue that Dems shouldn’t be thinking broadly after the 2024 election - whatever results in wins far & wide. And I try to steer clear of cable news - my time is better spent elsewhere. Like on the golf course or walking the dog 😂!
