Cities fascinate me. My career focused on improving cities to be welcoming, efficient, prosperous places for everyone. Primarily transit and land use projects to score well on all 3 E’s.

Pinochet also caused murder in DC:
On 21 September 1976, Orlando Letelier, a leading opponent of Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet, was assassinated by car bombing, in Washington, D.C. …along with his colleague Ronni Karpen Moffitt, who was in the car with her husband Michael.

The current Mayor of Houston, John Whitmire, broke ranks and returned. He was then named John Quitmire.
This wasn’t mentioned by the media when he ran for Mayor. It might have mattered in the primary.
He’s been a disappointment to many.

Congress doesn't want to talk to Alex Acosta, Epstein's 'sweetheart deal' maker Acosta, who previously was Trump's labor secretary, wasn't named in a list of people a House committee subpoenaed.

The House committee's subpoena list for matters tied to Jeffery Epstein excluded Alex Acosta — who was the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida whose secret non-prosecution agreement with Epstein created a spark that has turned into an inferno of controversy nearly 20 years later.

Not to mention that everyone who doesn’t drive subsidizes everyone who does. Prices in every business that provides parking for employees and/or customers are paid by all customers.

Since he lied to Sen. Cassidy, it would be appropriate for Cassidy to call for his impeachment, and same for every other Senator who voted to confirm him.
Write, call, visit, ask reporters to ask, make noise! Trump is afraid of noise other than his.

Garland was qualified and would have been a decent SC Justice, unlike the ones Trump picked.
I think Biden could have picked a better DoJ head, but Garland got confirmed quickly. Biden did a ton of good in his term.
What did you do to get Dems elected in 2024? What are you doing for 2026?

Republicans held the Senate. Obama knew that the only chance was to nominate a moderate. Evil Mitch then ignored all precedent and refused to hold hearings on the nomination. Why do you think Mitch would have allowed anyone else to be confirmed?

The stories we tell matter. I know this not from watching but from memory. I was just a child, held behind barbed wire in a U.S. internment camp, when an atomic bomb obliterated Hiroshima—killing members of my family.

If you’re looking for a journalistic hero, you could do a lot worse than Mr. Dan Rather. It was a huge pleasure to get to visit with him this morning. Such a sharp mind, and so many amazing experiences.

So maybe it’s not 1860 in ALL of Texas? We’ve got 32 million people here and a lot of them are angry right now.

Yeah, nothing has changed since 1861.🙄

Texan Lyndon Johnson got the 1965 Civil Rights Act through Congress, and the Great Society programs. If he hadn’t listened to the hawks on Vietnam…

Abbott sucks, but some great D’s: Green, Crockett, Talarico…

Please don’t trash 32 million Americans.

Only since the Republicans took over from Ann Richards in 1994. George W Bush wasn’t as awful as Perry, who wasn’t even close to Abbott. Abbott is at least as evil as Trump and much smarter.
Abbott is testing his limits right now.

Jessica: I also heard no complaints when Mike Johnson decided to abdicate his job to say actually congress isn't in session anymore because I don't want to have to vote on turning over the Epstein files…. so be equal opportunity in your complaints about fleeing your job

Demand based zoning – Mountain Doodles What if zoning was responsive to underlying demand to live in an area? A simple model to estimate demand-based zoning in Vancouver.

When discussing reforms like multiplex zoning, demand estimates rarely enter the discussion (except as a force to be countered).
@lausterna.bsky.social and I think that’s unfortunate and we run some simple estimates what it would look like to zone for the demand to live in an area.

More journalists should be asking why they put Steve Volz, the head of NOAA’s Satellite and Information Service (NOAA/NESDIS), on indefinite administrative leave.
