sites & cultures. i can say with some confidence that currently this book is one of its kind. the contributors have written for both undergrad & grad students—so, consider adopting the title for your courses. 6/7

wrt the choice of topics, regions & textual practices represented, & so on. not every one of my ideas could be realized in this one volume—this is not an encyclopedic book but one that tracks conversations & tensions about ‘what is (digital) literature’ happening across… 5/7

any book with the word “global” in its title has to tackle the social & political implications of such a burdensome concept. as editor, i tried to not only discuss these implications in the intro but also display awareness about the possibilities & limitations throughout, 4/7

i learned as much about digital literature in the process as i did about people management & time management & expectations management (if any peer/junior scholar wants to know more about my takeaways, DM & i’ll get into the details).
the book was published this summer. 3/7

editing the volume turned out to be fun, yes, but also challenging for many reasons, especially the fact that i was working with scholars based in different corners of the world (india, ghana, hong kong, australia, norway, for example) during a global pandemic. 2/7

i started working on the edited volume, GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES ON DIGITAL LITERATURE, soon after submitting the full draft of my monograph OUT OF MIND for peer review, imagining that it would be exciting to collaborate with scholars/writers creating & critiquing digital texts.🧵 1/7

gee was the president when i joined OSU as an international grad student. his practices introduced me to the chronic disparities in vision & compensation among admin, faculty, staff, & students in american universities. but he continues to hop from one institution to another without consequences.
