Our home is mourning her loss. We’ve been laughing along with her in The Studio, and it’s a shock. For years I used Schitt’s Creek for students learning English for its understandable characters and clear plots about small town happenings. ❤️

Thanks to downtown Revelstoke’s newest artists’ studio and retail shop, The Clay Collective, for letting me get my hands dirty on the wheel. Check out their space in the old Signs Ink building between the museum and thrift store.

Thx to BC Hydro staff for a preview of the Revelstoke Dam Unit 6 open house, 5–8 this eve. This major project will have impacts and opportunities for Revelstoke. Hydro is exploring housing options including community partnerships. Last week, council met with Hydro staff at UBCM in Victoria on it.

I’m stoked to be Revelstoke city council rep to the Economic Development Commission, Tourism Infrastructure Committee, and Arts Revelstoke, whose teams play key roles collaborating, supporting and partnering with a network of community organizations keen to make great events thrive.

Thanks to organizers of Revelstoke’s National Day of Truth and Reconciliation gathering. It provides a moment to listen, connect, learn, reflect and strengthen bonds. This year we commemorated the passing of Sinixt artist Ric Gendron, whose works are featured in Art Alleries on First Street West.

Grateful for a moment to chat with federal Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Gregor Robertson at #UBCM about Revelstoke Community Housing Society’s planned new 166-unit social housing build & child-care centre on Downie Street. The development permit will be before council on Oct. 7.

One local note from the Ministry of Environment/Parks is an ongoing process looking to better integrate outdoor rec values into decisions about forestry roads, such as finding options for keeping roads with high rec use open when they’d otherwise be closed after forestry use ends.

Great to see Revelstoke’s Louise Pedersen from Outdoor Recreation Council of BC leading off an “Outdoor Recreation for Community Development and Economic Development” session here at the #UBCM 2025 convention here in Victoria. Panelists included reps from MOE, KORE, Elkford, and Tumbler Ridge.

Another amazing Revelstoke LUNA art & sound fest this weekend. First pic is a new permanent installation by Taryn Walker, from Revy now YVR. Nice to chat with her and her proud family. Thanks to Arts Revelstoke and the many organizations and people who make LUNA a highlight for all residents.

It was recently restored to near original specs. Finished in 1939, It’s an early example of west coast modernism. Designed by C.B.K. Van Norman, it originally hosted city hall and the fire department, hence the hose tower. Van Norman’s best known for work in YVR including 815 Chico and Park Royal.

Railway unions gear up for negotiations as CPKC plans employee relocation The planned mass resettlement of nearly 300 workers could derail community connections and impact Revelstoke’s economy, union leaders warn.

“Our members are anxious about the move [to Kamloops],” Christopher Monette, Teamster media relations said. “A lot of folks there, they’ve got roots down in the community, and it’s going to be complicated to potentially uproot their lives in order to follow their careers.”
