Thx to BC Hydro staff for a preview of the Revelstoke Dam Unit 6 open house, 5–8 this eve. This major project will have impacts and opportunities for Revelstoke. Hydro is exploring housing options including community partnerships. Last week, council met with Hydro staff at UBCM in Victoria on it.

One local note from the Ministry of Environment/Parks is an ongoing process looking to better integrate outdoor rec values into decisions about forestry roads, such as finding options for keeping roads with high rec use open when they’d otherwise be closed after forestry use ends.

It was recently restored to near original specs. Finished in 1939, It’s an early example of west coast modernism. Designed by C.B.K. Van Norman, it originally hosted city hall and the fire department, hence the hose tower. Van Norman’s best known for work in YVR including 815 Chico and Park Royal.
