California just banned employers from forcing workers to pay a debt, fee, or penalty to leave their job.

Bosses have increasingly been trapping workers with debts incurred in training and other exploitative fees.

Now that's illegal in the nation's biggest state.

In Chicago right now and we all need to prepare for the extreme variance of different areas. The marathon was yesterday and people everywhere just hanging out having coffee. Even in Rogers Park last night things felt calm. A good reminder to keep building in the face of false calm.

They Came for Our Neighbors. We Showed Up. Before long, there were dozens, and then hundreds of people in the streets, watching and responding.

My latest is the story of how my community has rallied to protect and defend our neighbors in recent days, as ICE has targeted the Rogers Park neighborhood in Chicago. "This is not a story about a moment of victory, but a moment of being reminded of our power."

Racist violence against the faith leaders so often indicates a massive national tipping point. Not just MLK, but also people like James Reeb. There’s nowhere for people who defend ICE to go from here.
