A health and stamina meter for a video game. It has looping metal "vines" defining the edges and to the left, the "vines" create a large circular loop that contains a glass lens over a dark mauve background.

Finished a proper HUD for The Autumnal King.

I was messing with some color filters and got this cool corroded metal look. Unfortunately it left a bunch of white pixels around the edges, so I've been watching X-Files with friends while I clean it up.

this AI shit is not gonna break me. I am still a writer and I'm still gonna write shit and it's gonna mostly be "just OK" workaday prose elevated by my little poetic flourishes but it's gonna be something only I could write. and maybe I won't even do anything with it, but it will exist

I need to remember to post here as well as on other socials. I was looking back and didn't realize I had so few posts on bsky.

And finished up the outside of the keep in the canyon.

I was struggling with the design of it for a while, because I thought it would be cool to work in some art deco influences, but everything kept coming out looking like a sky scraper or a casino lol.

A little talked about symptom of ADHD is Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD).

This is an intense feeling that everyone hates you.

RSD comes in waves, and does not require events to trigger it. You can be walking along with friends having a great time and suddenly you feel an outsider.

Along that theme, was blocking out a level and have most of the terrain done now. The first pic is just cubes in Unity to get a feel for the layout.

It's a series of cliffs and plateaus high above the canyons below. Still more to be done, but the all of the paths are in. #TheAutumnalKing #gamedev

Working on something new is exciting, but all the unsolved problems can be overwhelming for sure.

A very rough series of plateaus being modeled in blender.

An open area inside a dim dungeon. There is a pale green light filling lighting up portions of the room. The room is made out of limestone that has been molded to appear weirdly organic, the supports and beams for the room appearing like a rib cage. In the distance you can see a broken balcony.

Sometimes I'll be roughing stuff out and get kinda down about it, like "this'll never work out what am I doing" (e.g. first pic). But then I remember stuff like the second pic that I'm happy with and it was just a bunch of cubes in unity to start out

She's like a Linda Hamilton in a Terminator 2. She's seen some shit, she has no problem pulling the trigger, but she's not an emotionless monster, she's ultimately trying to protect people.

The majority of money in AI is a big circle, NVidia propping up chip consumers propping up OpenAI propping up NVidia. It's all gonna go tits up if there isn't a major change in the near future.

The Republicans that are kidnapping folks off the streets and from their homes? The Republicans that have said they want to exterminate trans folk? That are leveraging their power to curtail free speech? That have been undermining America for decades?

Fuck those fascists.

So in a nutshell, AI only helps (assuming you only have to prompt a few times to get the right output) with the easiest part of software engineering at the expense of making the hardest parts harder.

Why are we doing this again? Oh right, because tech CEOs want their second dot com era.

21.10.2025 20:40 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

And all of that is made more difficult when nobody has the innate understanding of the code you gain by writing it. Then add the fact that you can't assume that *any* line of code was made by a reasonable person (because it wasn't) and it gets even harder... if you want to do your job right anyway.

21.10.2025 20:36 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

That is your code, and when you use AI you're using very loose language to hopefully recieve an incredibly specific result.

"Can't they just review and fix the code?"
The hardest part of programming is not writing code. It's everything after, the testing, debugging, optimizing, etc.
