Sometimes the impossible does happen: Pierre Poilievre said something complimentary about a Liberal leader. The Eglinton LRT opened today. So maybe the Leafs can win the Stanley Cup again in my lifetime.

This is a fucking show dog with fucking papers. You can't play it Radiohead or it gets upset. Its hair falls out.

And yet, at your local high school, there were dozens of kids who showed up in sweat pants and running shoes, and at least one girl with a bare midriff and one dude in shorts. Nobody wore hats or mitts. There's not a lot I miss about being a teenager, but a working internal furnace is one of them.

We just started that (my wife and I read aloud to each other before and after dinner). Love the piece on Bloordale Beach.

Thanks for ruining one of my favourite Clash songs.

One of the weirdest, most fun shows we ever saw was the Hidden Cameras with the Toronto Dance Theatre at the Winchester Street Theatre. The show ended with the band dancing and the dancers playing the instruments.

Here's hoping.

I couldn't agree more. The amount of money you can make and still collect OAS is absurd.

Oh, somewhere in this favoured land the sun is shining bright,
the band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light; and somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout...

Seconded. Of all the music lumped into the shoegaze genre, Against Perfection is my fav by a longshot.

That's pretty much what I yelled at the TV, and the dog jumped off the couch and disappeared.

Similar experience: John Otway at the Rivoli in Toronto. There was a guy in the crowd with an oxygen tank. I doubt there was anyone there under 40, but it was a blast.

FWIW, saw Killing Joke at Larry's Hideaway, a long-gone dump in Toronto. The show was released on a 10" record. Great live band.

Guilty. Fortunately, the one time I did this at a Toronto Records on Wheels store, the clerk managed to identify Joan Osborne's "One of Us" before I croaked out half a line.

Anybody else find themselves humming the Velvets' "I'm Waiting for the Man" after they've called a contractor or repair person? Specifically the "He's never early, he's always late / First thing you learn is that you always gotta wait" part?

Darnielle's book in the 33 1/3 series about Black Sabbath's Master of Reality is a great read.

Cut a plug out of a whole watermelon, drain it, then refill the juice with tequila. Put the plug back in and let it sit for an hour. Butcher and eat.

Yep. "If Liberals don’t like petty score-settling, they should try behaving some other way." Right. Remember sunny ways? That got us a minor industry producing F*ck Trudeau flags and bumper stickers.

My father got one. He died in March of last year. It's absurd. Over 100,000 people die in Ontario every year. I wonder how many got cheques.
