Often tho, it does feel like ppl get too giddy "enforcing" these ideas as "rules" to the point of derailing discussions. You get a lot of "say Y, not X" with no further elaboration that just leaves people confused without the original context. i.e. pedantry (2/)

I propose using the tried and true "diversion" instead of "distraction" from now on whenever the President does something that takes attention away from the Epstein files. I don't think it carries quite the same vibe of illegitimacy that "distraction" brings to mind.

Definitely seems like a lightning offensive tactic meant to overwhelm opposition by in theory not allowing people any one succinct objective to focus on.

Basically captured exactly what I was thinking earlier when seeing ppl argue over what was a "distraction" from what.

First Trump admin used a lot of easily ignore-able BS to distract. Second Trump admin learned there is no better "distraction" than a real crime that demands legitimate attention.
