US senators poised to reject Trumpβs proposed massive science cuts
Committee gives first hint that policymakers might preserve, rather than slash, funding for US National Science Foundation and other agencies.
I think a pocket rescission is Voughtβs only path forward this Fiscal year. He only has75 days and there is more support for NIH than NPR or foreign aid. For example, Republican senators have rejected cuts at NSF already: www.science.org/content/arti...

This is where we differ then. I have not seen reporting to back up your prediction and I donβt think Vought can get a formal rescissions package through the Senate based on various R comments and the fact they had to remove PEPFAR money from the bill.

Maybe we are saying the same thing β that OPM attempting and getting away with a pocket rescission is the biggest risk to NIH

Yes I am very familiar with this substack post, but it is almost 3 months outdated now, as you can see from the language around reconciliation. I have not seen reporting that an official rescissions package will be sent to Congress.

Can you provide a reference for this? I have not seen reporting that Vought will bring an official NIH rescissions package. I do agree that OPM is probably considering an illegal pocket rescission.

What happens to NIH funding if OMB tries a pocket rescission but the courts deliberate on the issue past the end of the fiscal year?

@minnajohansson.bsky.social Thanks for writing this paper. Too many people overstate the benefit and understate the opportunity costs of promoting of individual behavior change in primary care.

We commemorate and mourn the losses resulting from cuts to funding, programs, and people that have been both discriminatory and indiscriminate. We gather every Saturday at 10 am at the Medical Center Metro station at NIH in Bethesda. Opinions are our own.
