If they keep cannibalising the pre-Disney material to try and graft quality on to the Disney-era garbage; they'll squander their last opportunity.

Recast ALL the characters.
Reintroduce them and the universe they inhabit.
The story must be stand-alone, with it fitting into canon but not requiring any knowledge OF canon to be enjoyed by a new audience.

Disney can't "save" Star Wars, but they can still profit from it.
All they have to do is make a direct adaptation of the "Heir To The Empire" trilogy, BUT, they must approach it as Lucas approached "New Hope"; treat it as though it's everyone's FIRST Star Wars movie.

And this is supposed to be the first of seven! I wouldn't be surprised if David Brooke uses ChatGPT for more hallucinations in this interview.

Here's a fun game to play: Copy the text of this article into an AI detector and see what you get.

When it isn't direct quotes from Kelly himself, the commentary is written by AI. Brooke couldn't even be bothered to praise the run in his own words, he had to use ChatGPT for this.

I don't think people quite realize the red line that Trump 2 views firing people as. It's a mark of dominance or w/e to keep them in the face of a media cycle that will always turn.

It isn't an empty gesture, it may not do anything now, but it's a signal to history, and to the world and to ourselves, that this is not ok.

Yes, I take that NYT article about libertarians warning ppl about Trump personally. I was there. I saw it happen. Some libertarians did. Many did not, and mocked and fired those who did. Including the author of that goddamn article.

Oh, The Muppet Show was so heartwarming. ๐Ÿฅน Rather adored how it functioned as a meta plea for a continued existence, both from the central plot revolving around a long list of acts that couldn't be performed to the final number being "Don't Stop Me Now." I hope Disney listens!

Panel from Web of Spider-Man #28 (1987)

A woman with strawberry blonde hair, white sunglasses and a black bikini angrily addresses Peter Parker.

"I said -- I wonder if--! Hey! Are you listening to me?!"

She stands with her hands on her hips watching Peter Parker snore on his deck chair happily, before storming off and swearing.

Tl;dr: The vast majority of adults will never have to interact with our age assurance systems and their experience won't change, because we know Discord and how people use it, so we're designing to respect privacy and deliver a safer experience while minimizing friction for adults.

Hey folks โ€“

Iโ€™ve been on Discord since very early 2016 and actually joined the company in 2017. Safety is one of my areas, so todayโ€™s announcement on our blog is something Iโ€™ve been pretty involved with. Iโ€™ve always cared about Discord's approach to privacy (E2EE for A/V was another of my projects here), so I figured Iโ€™d add some more context to today's news.

I can say confidently that the vast majority of people will never see age verification. I say this because we launched age assurance in the UK and Australia in 2025, and we have some pretty good data on this now. The idea here is that we can pre-identify most adults based on what we already know (not including your messages!), and that looks to get us pretty far here. No face scans, no IDs, for the vast majority of adults.

And if you are one of the smaller subset of folks that we can't definitively pre-identify, then still, you only have to do it if you're accessing age-restricted servers or channels, or changing certain settings. That's really not most users. (Altho... might be more Redditors, tbh.)

Last, I know that there is concern about privacy and data leaks. That's a real concern. The selfie system is built purely client-side, it never leaves your device, and we did that intentionally. That'll work for a bunch of users who aren't pre-identified as adults. But if you do end up in the ID bucket, then yeah, you're right that has some risk. We're doing what we can to minimize this by working with our range of partners (who are different partners than the data leak you read about), and if it's any help, we learned a lot internally from the last issue. But I get if that doesn't necessarily inspire more confidence.

Anyway, weโ€™ll be sharing more next month as we get closer to the global roll out about the system, including the technology behind it in March. I honestly wouldn't be happy if we didn't build something good and I am excited about what weโ€™re launching, but please let us know what you think when we share more details.

And I really appreciate everybody's feedback here today. Weโ€™re definitely reading it!

Discord is already starting to walk things back a little, so people should keep doing what they're doing (cancel Nitro, leave feedback/criticism, direct contact through support tickets/phone/email/etc)

Even though Wonder Man isn't really much like the comic version other than he's an actor with super powers I still enjoyed the show. Of course I have an affinity for the character having lettered the 90s version of his series. Ben Kingsley steals the show & Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is quite good too.

Super Bowl ads used to define the culture. People literally quoted them for years after the ads aired.

The ads today are just slop. Donโ€™t know if I saw a single good one.

Used to be a time when movie stars would go overseas to do commercials because it was beneath them to do ads.

Now we have A list actors doing full on ad campaigns for tech bro companies.

I got this recommended to me for some reason. And I have to call bullshit because the Detective Pikachu movie already perfected live action Pokรฉmon. Didn't need AI.
