Any chance a Super Cup win gets us in the Champions League next year? That would be nice.

13.08.2025 19:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Lacking rumors (which arenβt worth much) I have to hope that Lange and his team are moving to bring in the #10 we need, whether itβs Eze or someone else. While the right time would have been anytime before now, announcing a signing today would boost spirits, even if it wonβt help us against PSG.

14.06.2025 23:34 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I usually try to follow Hanlonβs razor and assume ignorance or incompetence instead of malice, but this framing of Trumpβs behavior makes a lot of sense when observing what is happening in LA and his dismantaling of American institutions.
4/4
βI think what has been so confusing for so many people, because I tend to think everyone's acting in good faith, is that the Trump folks are treating the EPA and Harvard not as fellow Americans and American institutions that are trying to act for the good of America, but as a defeated enemy.β
3/
βLike when you conquer a society by force, when you defeat another nation in war and you conquer them, you often will destroy the institutions that undergird it to ensure pacification to remain in power and then maybe you rebuild them, but you rebuild them in a form that you like.β
2/
β[T]he way the Trump administration treats many Americans is as a defeated enemy, not as fellow Americans.β

Individual choices we make (biking to work, picking up litter, buying less plastic/disposable stuff) do help the planet, but itβs our efforts to make structural changes (passing a Bottle Bill, improving the non-driving options for a city, reducing impervious surface) that really bring about change.

10.04.2025 03:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0@tbfighters.org had meetings with representatives from every state in the country today as a part of #TBHillDay and while a few months ago we would have been talking about how to wipe out TB, not itβs about restoring funding and minimizing the damage the cuts will have on health worldwide.
10.04.2025 03:00 β π 29 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Grateful I got to meet with staff from the offices of @alsobrooks.senate.gov, @hoyer.house.gov, Rep. 10.04.2025 02:58 β π 22 π 4 π¬ 2 π 0Cynthia Stout, a history scholar, asserted that by 1900 "one-third of Colorado's population were residents of the state because of tuberculosis." (From Wikipedia - Tuberculosis treatment in Colorado Springs)
Lived in Colorado Springs during undergrad and never knew its history as a TB colony or that Dr. Quinn was based there.
09.04.2025 23:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The cover of John Greenβs book βEverything Is Tuberculosis: The History and Persistence of our Deadliest Infectionβ. Please read this book and advocate for the funding and policy changes to end this desease.
Funding for USAID, NIH, CDC, and other public health programs that help address TB and other infectious diseases cost a penny or two of each $ of federal spending. These cuts donβt help solve the deficit, they put us and the world in a much dangerous situation. Talk to your elected officials.
09.04.2025 02:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0β’ 150 million people have died since a cure for TB has existed β’ 2 billion with latent TB infection globally β’ 13 million with latent TB infection in the U.S. β’ 155 million TB survivors in the world (~1 out of 50 people in the world)
TB is a curable disease (and has been for decades) but it kills more than 1.25 million people each year. The cuts to TB funding will result in more drug-resistant TB, more death and misery, around the world and here in the US. We have the power to end this disease and have chosen not to.
