I'd never heard of this terrible low budget SF film, The Yesterday Machine, till #TheMadsAreBack riffed it, and I've been watching bad movies for fun for about 60 yrs. It's pretty terrible, which of course, made for a great comedy presentation. Downloads available at @dumb-industries.com π¬π #MST3K

Goldie Hawn was interviewed at the Concert for Tibet and all she wanted to talk about was the Dalai Lama, so Pavement sort of drowned her out.
I wish I had known this for my article on that episode!

Paraphrasing:
"I dislike the gatekeeping that comes with it; the idea you have to be a hardcore gamer to enjoy 18xx."
The only people I've ever heard say such things are those who don't play 18xx.
Those perpetuating this myth are "the gatekeepers".

29.04.2025 14:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I suggest it is to lower the average lifespan of working people. If they live past their productive years, working people impose an undue burden on the wealthy. This seems to be the core of conservative economics.

Unions
Healthcare (through unions, Medicare and Medicaid)
Universal public education

Environmental regulations
Social Security
If you seek to undermine all of these, what is your underlying objective?

25.04.2025 15:32 β π 60706 π 20853 π¬ 611 π 840I hate all of this in almost every way a thing can be hated. I hate the factless waffle that surrounds Big AIβs every improbable goal. I hate how insipidly stupid, or just plain evil, those goals so often are, and the yawning chasm between them and any form of achievable reality. I hate that Big AIβs successes are inflated and its failures ignored β or are even categorised as hilarious mis-steps, like when AI chatbots tell people to eat poisonous mushrooms, put glue on pizza, or make air diffusers from chlorine gas. I hate that Big AI consumes so much energy that every time you generate a six-fingered portrait of Anne Frank or a scene from the Vietnam war in the style of Studio Ghibli, you might as well just kill a polar bear with a crossbow. I hate that it can run roughshod over every copyright law and environmental protection on the planet in pursuit of the data it needs to continue failing, with no consequences save for the enrichment of the worst people on Earth, who have managed to make all of this magical bullshit seem sensible to an intellectual class comprised of people I wouldnβt trust to print an email.
On hatred.
