Even as emissions level off, carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is growing faster than ever. Here’s why Atmospheric CO₂ concentrations are surging, even as emissions level out. Natural carbon sinks are showing signs of faltering as we continue to emit CO₂.

An interesting explainer from @theconversation.com examining why CO2 levels are rising so rapidly even as global emissions growth is levelling off. We are sleep walking to disaster.

Hi there, sorry I went away for a bit. But to be clear I was not suggesting they add their opinions, I was suggesting that they do not report lies from politicians as though they have any basis in reality. Sorry if I wasn't making that clear.

It is not the job or journalists to report a thing that someone said! It isn't an opinion that RFK is saying nonsense, it is a fact.

It is a terrible indictment of US journalism that headlines still prioritize highlighting the lies of US officials rather than anything remotely approaching a truthful appraisal of them. Telling us the nonsense that RFK says is much less important than telling us the truth about the topic!

Last Friday, 04/11/25, the @aaup.bsky.social bravely sued the Trump administration to end its ongoing $9 billion review of #Harvard federal funding.

We stand with the AAUP & encourage all to attend a 4/17 National Day of Action event!

My Hope is in the People: Stand up for Science This past Friday, March 7th, my wife and I finally took part in the most important of French traditions: La Manifestation. It was part of a global protest, Stand up for Science, in solidarity with …

My first blog post was about keeping hope in an increasingly bleak world. Inspired by my time participating in the @standupforscience.bsky.social rally in #Paris, my hope for the future rests with the normal people of the world.

HAPPY TAX DAY!
How much would you spend on a year of tornado warnings? The average US taxpayer spends only $4 a year to help fund the NWS. It’s a smart investment—every $1 invested in NWS yields approx. $73 in social benefits.
🌪️❄️ Support science. Support the NWS.

Diabetes affects millions of people, but what if we could better understand how the body naturally regulates blood sugar? Mark Huising is leading NIH-funded research to study how beta cells in the pancreas work together with neighboring cells that secrete hormones that control insulin secretion.
