BBC headline utterly failing. ‘The saga of a £165m rail line that keeps causing travel chaos’
It’s not the rail line that “keeps causing travel chaos” its the shifting climate with more prolonged and intense rainfall and more frequent storms leading to landslips and the sea wall being washed out.

China's Xinhua news agency has just published this editorial cartoon in response to Trump's rejection of climate policies.
It is pretty clear that China views this as a HUGE geopolitical fumble by the US leaving the field clear for China's to win the global race to clean-tech hegemony

Estimates of the economic costs of Brexit continue to grow. Now showing UK economy between 6 and 8 percent smaller than it would have been. That in turn means £60bn lost tax revenue every year. Think what a difference that would have made to tax & spend decisions …

It’s schemes like this that remind me that I’ve always wondered whether the towers of wind turbines could somehow be used as gravity based storage when there was too much wind. I’m sure there are technical issues, but I wonder whether anyone has given it serious engineering thought?

Trump (and right wingers in Britain & EU) often claim that the USA economy outperforms “sclerotic” Europe.
A more comprehensive comparison gives a different perspective about the quality of life in each:

Ozone depletion was halted and slowly reversed by the Montreal Protocol that banned CFC’s. Without that international agreement, it would have “happened”

But the incident reveals Lomborg’s lack of diligence in research; if he was intent on lying about his environmentalist status, he could have searched for an organisation that *did* have a membership model that he could claim to have belonged to - but he couldn’t be arsed
