Wrote myself a pep talk to get back to work tomorrow. It helped me. Hope it helps you.

Virtually all their work relied on ChatGPT and they didn't bother backing anything up, and then thought it would be a good idea to tell everyone in a Nature article.

When two years of academic work vanished with a single click After turning off ChatGPT’s β€˜data consent’ option, Marcel Bucher lost the work behind grant applications, teaching materials and publication drafts. Here’s what happened next.

I would be so angry if the professor of a course I needed for my future career was doing all his teaching and grant writing and shit with chatgpt. so embarrassing. Jesus Christ. How did you get a phd if you need help writing an email? You're having 'conversations' with a chatbox?

Important and timely wide-ranging interview with one of the world's most influential climate scientists.

Some of what he tells @rtmcswee.carbonbrief.org is, frankly, breathtaking.

A call to action for all scientists, not just those focused on climate change.

I really hope this de-escalates very quickly. If not, I don't see how you can have a US military presence in Europe while threatening to take over an autonomous territory that is part of a European nation.

They are strongly related. The linear relationship between warming and cumulative emissions underpins the carbon budget framing.

Interesting 🧡about communicating complex scientific/social issues. "If only the communication had been more effective" generally misunderstands the complexity of these issues.

I think the norm is to capitalise, so you have "hot-Jupiters", "super-Earths", "super-Jupiters", etc. Maybe because in this context we're - for example - labelling a super version of Jupiter.
