In 2019, I studied abroad in China. Initially tried getting my visa from the DC embassy bc I was living there that summer. They asked me for my PARENTS' passports and I noped the fuck out of there. Went home to HTX, no trouble getting my visa at the consulate.

I get the sense that Senator Marshall saw my East Asian face out in the audience and that's how he wound up with the first statement about "non-Kansans" being out there before walking it back. I can't confirm it, but that's the vibe I got.

I can't imagine 5 years, but here are some things I'd like to envision for myself 20 years from now:

-had kids
-Not be in the US
-Living a simple life in a community I love
-doing work I care about
