'Deeply disappointedโ€™: Ministers question 'surprising' refusal of Rotunda critical care unit โ€˜Health infrastructure is critical infrastructure. Simple as that,โ€™ says Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill

Those drawing up and submitting these plans could surely anticipate they were going to be refused on these grounds. I canโ€™t understand this pattern which repeats in Ireland again and again. www.thejournal.ie/rotunda-hosp...

Ireland, Day 1056 of The Rain. Everything is saturated to the grey of the sky. Moss covers every surface. The outdoors sounds like constant static. The entire staff of Met ร‰ireann is on mental health leave. Iโ€™ve forgotten what dry clothes feel like.

It is still a yellow weather alert.

Couldn't agree more, also the prioritisation of Greenway reveals the official view that cycling is a recreational activity to be monetised and not a routine mode of transport

Cyclist crushed twice by SUV in Dublin city centre recalls โ€˜the worst day of my lifeโ€™ in court Andrew Brett told the court that he was โ€˜convinced he was going to dieโ€™ during the incident.

โ€œGda Galvin said Brett was wearing a high-vis jacket and helmet. It was a dry day, the road conditions were good and there were no obstructions.โ€ Turns out high vis and helmet may not save you from SUV drivers taking an illegal right turn. www.thejournal.ie/courts-cycli...

As a newly minted (well, since 2020) Irish citizen, I hate to watch what happened to America start to repeat itself here.

The media has a HUGE role in normalizing fascism in the US.
Trans kids were the low-hanging fruit, both in ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ & ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง.

Noticing both professional and personal scenarios where emails are not arriving into different Gmail and Microsoft accounts. Mostly mailing lists of sorts, including identity provider one-time passcodes. The baby is being thrown out with the bathwater?

Shame nobody could join the dots prior to shutting down their previous venue? Some of these buildings were in fine working order within the last decade but have been wilfully left derelict since by the government.

Weโ€™d a good show last night on @tonightvmtv.bsky.social, digging in to the case of Irish citizens detained under ICE in the US and whether the governmentโ€™s own policies undermine its efforts to address them.

Trains are just great. Even our limited network of diesel-chuggers beat the car any day. I donโ€™t think Iโ€™m ever as focused as I am on a quiet train pootling along. Tay optional.

Based on a data set of one taxi journey today, the โ€œmake all cyclists wear helmets and high vis because they are the road safety issueโ€ narrative has emboldened the โ€œcyclists shouldnโ€™t be on the roadโ€ class of taxi driver. Same lad couldnโ€™t believe there were trains to & within Co. Clare either.

This is cycling in Copenhagen.

No hi-vis. No helmet mandates.
People cycle because itโ€™s safe โ€” by design.

This is what cycling should look like.

Ireland is moving in the opposite direction. Instead of designing safe places to cycle, we're blaming the people cycling...

โ€œThe plans come following a renewed focus on road safety and the use of e-bikes, scramblers and scooters from the Government in recent weeks following the death of 16-year-old Grace Lynch, who was hit and killed by a scrambler bike.โ€ How the hell did the focus end up here?!

Can we also get a mandatory high-vis stripe on every single vehicle on the road? Or maybe just some enforcement of existing road traffic laws and get thousands of drivers off their damned phones while driving?

Re-turn to engage with council after criticism of scheme Re-turn has said that it is willing to engage with Dublin City Council on the operation of the Deposit Return Scheme in the city centre.

DublinTown, some DCC councillors and DCCโ€™s CEO are only criticising the problematic scheme because it literally brings the poverty, homelessness and neglect they wilfully ignore into the clear light of day. www.rte.ie/news/environ...

Dug out the spreadsheet and got cooking. Energia seem to be coming out as an option worth considering (day, night, peak, gas from top to bottom). Iโ€™m a dope for not checking the bill sooner, I just checked what was Yunoโ€™s peak rate at the time of going out or contact and thought Iโ€™d get that ๐Ÿซ
