And with that, the first draft is done! Getting it printed today and then moving on to a smaller project to let this one cook before coming back and editing. But what a feeling, first ever draft of a novel I have finished!

What a year! At the beginning of the month, my WIP had 4k words and I set a goal to get to 15k. I just hit 30k on it! Far surpassed anything I've done before and the story is shaping out. Can't wait to finish it in 2026!
Happy New Years!

This week, I wrote 6536 words on my WIP.
I did take Christmas and Christmas Eve off, but I was too focused on hot cocoa and family to write!
This brings me to 21k words total for the month and 27k total! :)

Finished 'Sheepdogs' by E. Ackerman. 10/10, very fun read with a good cast of misfits. Really enjoying my little Ackerman binge.

Finished βWaiting for Edenβ by E. Ackerman.
Wow. Lots of feelings, almost the same feeling as a βShort Stay in Hellβ by S. Peck. Lots of emotions, especially with some stuff Iβve gone through surrounding grief. Not sure Iβd read again, but it will stick with me. 10/10

2 books I finished today: the Devils by J. Abercrombie and the Day of the Jackal by F. Forsythe.
The Devils - 9/10, funny with lots of cool moments. Middle act felt a little repetitive.
The Day of the Jackal - 7/10, really good thriller but a bit dated now.

Brain: Hey, got a great idea for a novel. Not this novel.
Me: (typing) Not now, brain.
Brain: Don't you wanna know what it is?
Me: NOT NOW, BRAIN
Brain: I'm not gonna lie, it's SUPER cool
Me: LET ME FINISH THE NOVEL IN FRONT OF ME, BRAIN

Every creative knows that the ideas are by far the easiest part of the process. I have notebooks full of ideas, more than I can ever turn into stories in my lifetime, and I get new ones every day. AI will just stunt your ability to have new ideas as you let it serve you remixes of stolen ones.
