The French captain seems more angry at his own guy than Wilson so it seems like there’s something missing to the story here…https://www.sportsnet.ca/olympics/article/france-removes-player-who-fought-tom-wilson-from-olympic-hockey-roster/

If you ever get a chance to try curling please do - it’s super fun! it’s a very friendly and sportsman like sport and really enjoyable.

I can only speak to my own experience. I never raised teenage girls, but my teenage boys could go through milk at a shocking rate. At a certain point you just give up and feed them as many potatoes as you can.πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I’d pay good money to know what was said on the ice - when the official took Tom to the box and chatted with him, he didn’t look upset. He looked like he was sort of nodding and agreeing with Wilson. Plus Wilson did try to skate away.

Did you ever see the movie the blindside? Remember that part where the kid is identified as having a huge protective instinct? I think that’s Wilson. He is skilled but he very much believes that you protect your teammates - maybe it’s because he’s the middle kid of three boysβ€¦πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

He was what Boudreau wanted him to be and he’s had to overcome that. He is a very good dude - polite, considerate and respectful. McKinnon called him a great teammate and McDavid called him a forechecking God. Hockey is a rough sport - I am a retired hockey mom and it was
hard to watch at times.

he’s also their leading scorer and ADORED in Washington. He does his job.

I think Wilson wanted to scare the guy off, but not necessarily fight. He’s been warned by everybody not to fight but Crinon did something that made him angry. McKinnon called him a good teammate so I’m happy.

As a Canadian curler I agree πŸ’―- there are many Canadians unhappy with this behaviour. I learned sportsmanship on a curling rink 45 years ago in northern Canada, and this is NOT acceptable.

14.02.2026 16:43 β€” πŸ‘ 8    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

yes, this is πŸ’― correct - I posted this elsewhere but if I’ve known you for 25 years, I would probably say something to you out of respect for our friendship, but sportsmanship requires that you deal with the judge, not the opponent. 100%

We would’ve died for eight hours of ice time! We were always battling with the hockey players for ice time -ugh 5 am practice! Any sport takes a level of obsession- a willingness to endure pain both physically and emotionally for your sport. The skiers - yikes!!!! those falls!!! 🫣😳

Yeah, that’s up to the COC and curling canada to address - they signed off on a code of behaviour ethics just like everybody else. Certainly not behaviour to be proud of. πŸ˜”

I’m not defending the Canadian AT ALL but the Swedish skip asked the Judge to come and watch their release, at that point his issue is with the judge not with the other team.

14.02.2026 01:09 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

it was disgusting, but the fact remains by banning that poor Ukrainian young man, they drew more attention to his helmet not less. shame on you IOC.

14.02.2026 01:03 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The Swedish skip should’ve had a conversation w/ the Canadian skip when he first saw it. He handled it poorly - you see it the first time you call it out and you tell them if I see it again I’ll be calling you on it. Every single curling club in the world goes through this. πŸ™„

Fiala tried to reverse hit to avoid being boarded, and if you watch the replay, Fiala actually left the ice with both feet which makes him super vulnerable. I can’t fault Wilson for that - I think it was just a really awkward collision.

14.02.2026 00:17 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I think when they brought the IIHF officials over to train with the NHL refs, we knew that hitting would be a bigger part of the game. I gotta think Cooper knows what he’s doing.
