How to Freeze Your Credit - NerdWallet A credit freeze helps prevent identity theft and fraud. Contact each of the three major credit bureaus to freeze or unfreeze your credit files for free.

Nerd Wallet had a page with direct links to the freeze pages of each bureau, easier than going to the home page for each. It took me a little over 20 minutes to set up accounts at all three and turn on the freeze. I'm filing this under vigilance and not paranoia.

With all the public data being accessed by a shadow department of the new administration (DOGE) which has little to no oversight at this time, which in my opinion greatly increases the chances of data breaches that could expose me to identity fraud activity, I have chosen to freeze my credit.
