Despite being a NEW curse, he's not a CHILD curse in the same way some curses have defined identities based on stories like Kuchisake-onna

But the one that said that thing I quoted also said that Mahito and Yuji might be problematic but it's "not a proship" because it's not adult x minor.

And I guess I'm glad to see kids existing without real problems but... Maybe they do need at least three because damn.

It's really clear that it's a "rules for you, not for me" kind of situation? Because I have seen non-proshipper Mahito/Yuji shippers actively stalk and torment Mahito/Junpei shippers... As of a whole lot separates the ships beyond Yuji's relative plot armor as the protagonist lol

Like sports fans - including ones who are queer and/or women - really haven't been normal about their celebrity objects either... Like your example is a real one and then there are the men being weird (bad, misogynoir) about Klay and Megan Thee Stallion as part of their NBA fandom

Hockey and figure skating fandoms - to say nothing about broader celebrity fandom culture - have always been invasive and pushy and toxic. I'm not even saying that in a judgemental way (as an idol fan, how could I throw stones from my glass house?) but it is a fsct that this is how things have been.

Saying "heated rivalry fans BROUGHT toxic fandom to the Olympics" is deeply incorrect. Parasocial relationships and surveillance around queer/imagined queer athletes is not new.

It's so odd like... You can't ship Toji and Gojo because they're enemies and Toji "knew" Gojo as a child. Can't ship mahito and Junpei because Mahito groomed him into violence... And one or both of them is a child. But it okay to ship mahito and yuji??? I need them to explain their logic like I'm 2

saw a post that was like "i can't believe anyone thinks mahito/yuji is proship" and that statement made me frown because well... a) that's not a useful shorthand to describe a ship and b) what about the ship is NOT deeply messed up? (assuming that's what the shorthand means)

I have a few friends (irl and otherwise) that I know I can't talk to about my current hyperfixations but that's fine. The folks I was TRYING to be friends with who then got weird about my weird? Oof.

Actually I can't assume because it has happened that I was talking to a potential IRL, shipping came into play, and we both realized that we're on totally different sides of the "what can people ship" debate even if we agree on all the other stuff like "racism bad" with horror on our faces

Online, it's a bit easy to tell "will this person be really weird to me over fandom/ships" when trying to make friends.
