I saw people on Tiktok talking about True Beauty getting a second season and dropping one of the main actors... But I'm pretty sure only the animated adaptation is getting a second season because few dramas get second seasons if they don't wrap everything up in one season.

PLEASE go look at the cover for rose in chains. It's beautiful (like i genuinely love the cover because... unfortunately it works for me) but it's clearly fannishly glammed up draco and hermoine without even a bit of plausible deniability. people used to sue over stuff like this lol

The dramoine book covers with the covers having direct inspiration from the fan art from the fandom... they're frankly hilarious to me. like rose in chains?? that's not even remotely subtle

(the zuko/katara and rey/kylo books that have similar fannishly overt covers crack me up too, best believe.)

Right like it is fully divorced from its context - and OP provides LOTS of context - and people aren't forced to think about what it means that fandom is still focusing on white and/or male characters at really high amounts (even the "media made them do it" explanation is INTERESTING)

It's been really... concerning that I don't get local weather alerts anymore. Multiple times in the past month, we've had a severe thunderstorm warning but I haven't gotten an alert outside of Google when those storms often have hail and frequently have tornados...

There's only a minority of people thinking about the demographics of what fandom likes and why (even if I don't always love how those conversations happen) vs people who see the list as validation in fandom.

I'm actually gonna try to write a piece about this later for my site, but one huge reason why I no longer see the value in centrumlumia's yearly ao3 stats posts has nothing to do with them (they're lovely afaik).

It's about how fandom sees the lists as things to celebrate rather than contemplate.

Romance manga/manhwa readers who drop a series if the ML isn't a virgin before coming to the FL are weak little fetuses and I am tired of seeing them in the comments of the series I read, esp when the series are labeled as dark from the start like calm down, people fuck other people sometimes. 🙄
