It's an "I got mine, I don't care if you don't get yours" attitude. They might care if there's a poor/homeless person they personally get along well with suffering from this, but they don't care about the poor/homeless as a group suffering under all of this.

I think they'd love the "financial benefits" they're being told they'd enjoy by there being less people on benefits, but there is just a huge amount of apathy that those half of Americans have towards other people in society. Many do hate, but I think an even larger number are just apathetic.

Bumping this to emergency status. I'm short $300 for my 2nd rent payment for October, and $400 short for my 1st November rent payment. Today, my account got overdrafted for $141 for car insurance.

I'm from SoCal and moved to New England, so this may be like a transplant bias or something, but I genuinely think that New England is the most beautiful area of the US, in its cities, towns, and in nature. And it snows! I'll always have a special place in my heart for Cali but NE is just better.

Knowledge has been effectively free since widespread support of public libraries in the 19th century. Students have been able to check out books and learn material on their own for longer than higher ed as we know it has existed. Profs have never been merely content delivery vectors.
