1.) Society and the economy are becoming more and more difficult to scrape by in
2.) It's becoming harder for people to land jobs that are more compatible with their productivity style
3.) Artists aren't getting enough support from non-commission income streams (Patreons, web shops, etc)

You need 1 k people who are into your art and are willing to spend about 100 $ a year for what you do to make 100k a year.
In fact even if they are willing to spend 50 $ a year on your stuff will be a good income

my comics industry advice is:
do whatever the hell you want because everything's made up and the points dont matter.
