Last week, I got an email from Microsoft. It told me I’d be paying 46% more for my Office subscription, starting next month.

But when I tried to cancel, it offered me the same price I was already paying — without the generative AI features I never asked for in the first place.

It's not reasonable to suggest itch could simply ignore payment providers on this, it is reasonable to expect a better response. From confusing messages that prompted fears money owed to creators was being withheld to telling redditors to use AI to write letters of complaint it's been a shitshow.

First: it’s not very clear what those charts are even measuring. The citation for the US data is this poll by the Survey Center on American Life which only asks two politics-related questions: Trump or Harris, and one’s identification on a 5-point scale between “liberal” and “conservative”. I couldn’t find easy data for 18-29-year-olds specifically, but unmarried women did favor Harris 23 percentage points more than unmarried men did. Without such orders, patients are in line for certain life-saving treatments that might lead to costly hospital stays. Two current and three former UnitedHealth nurse practitioners told the Guardian that UnitedHealth managers pressed nurse practitioners to persuade Medicare Advantage members to change their “code status” to DNR even when patients had clearly expressed a desire that all available treatments be used to keep them alive.

UnitedHealth secretly pressured nurses to change patients' records to include DNRs (Do Not Resuscitate) without their consent, so those patients would die instead of being saved with medical interventions that could cost UnitedHealth money.

This is murder.
