10/17/1925: Goose Goslin belted three home runs in both the 1924 and 1925 #WorldSeries, giving him more Series four baggers than anyone else, including Babe Ruth. Here's a list of all players through 1925 with 2 or more WS home runs. #Yankees

This allowed Cuyler to 2B in the 2 deciding runs immediately after that. It was baseball stripped to its rawest form: ugly, unpredictable, and unforgettable. The Pirate are the World Champions for 1925. (3/3)

It was his 8th error of the series & gave #Pittsburgh a 7-6 lead. He redeemed himself w/a solo HR in the 8th, but in the bottom of that frame w/the score tied at 7 a piece, he threw to the wrong base on what would have been a 3rd out. (2/3)

10/15/1925: The #Pirates won gm 7 of the #WorldSeries in the rain yesterday, 9-7. A mud-caked mess, more a test of survival than skill. #Washington scored 4 in the 1st on BBs, 1Bs, WPs & Es, but a banged up Johnson couldn’t hold the lead. Peckinpaugh’s E in the 7th led to 2 runs. (1/3)

10/14/1925 (gm 6): Kremer gave up a HR to Goslin in the 1st & a RBI-2B to Peckinpaugh in the 2nd yesterday but then settled down to ShO #Washington the rest of the way. The #Pirates grinded out 2 runs in the 3rd on a bunch o squibs, then Moore HRed the decisive run in the 5th. #WorldSeries tied 3-3!

10/12/1925: Bluege was back in the line up today after missing 2 games. He was struck in the head by an Aldridge pitch in the 2nd game. And who did Ossie have to face? Aldridge. A tall order, for sure. He K'ed in his 1st AB against the #Hoosier Schoolmaster, but 2Bed the next time. #WorldSeries

10/12/1925 (gm 5): #Pittsburgh toppled #Washington, 6 to 3, today as Aldridge won his 2nd #WorldSeries game, scattering 8 hits. Harris’s 4th-inn HR briefly tied the score, but the #Pirates knocked Coveleskie out in the 7th w/1Bs by Carey, Cuyler & Barnhart to secure the W. Nats are up 3 games to 2.

10/11/1925 (gm4): Walter Johnson (in spite of a leg injury he suffered in the 3rd) shut out the #Pirates & Goose Goslin hit a 3-run HR to give the #Senators a 3 games to 1 lead in the #WorldSeries. Bucky Harris helped immensely w/13 chances at 2B, several being of the sensational variety. #OTD

10/11/1925 (gm 3): Cold, windy & wild day w/the Coolidges on hand yesterday. Washington beat the #Pirates 4-3 thanks to Judge's 2B, Goslin’s HR, Rice’s HR-preventing catch in the 8th (did he really catch it?) & Marberry pitching out of the bases-loaded jam he created himself in the 9th. #WorldSeries

10/8/1925 (gm w): Oscar Bluege was struck in the top of the head by one of Aldridge’s fastballs in the 6th today. Eventually, he was able to walk off the field, but he may be out of commission for a while. Ken Williams was struck on August 14 & was out the rest of the year. #WorldSeries

10/8/1925 (gm 2): A great duel btw Coveleskie & Aldridge until the 8th when (tied 1-1) Cuyler hit a 2-run HR to propel the #Pirates to victory. #Washington had their chances w/none out & the bases full in both the 5th & 9th, but only mustered a SF from Veach. Tied now 1 game a piece. #WorldSeries

10/7/1925: Word came late tonite from #SaranacLake that Christy Matthewson finally succumbed to #tuberculosis, age 45. He'd been battling lung disease for 7 years, likely b/c of a poison gas training accident during the war in #France. 373 wins. 79 shutouts. 2 #nohitters. 3 shutouts in '05 WS. #OTD

10/7/1925: Walter Johnson was magnificent, giving up just 5 hits & a BB while K’ing 10 & leading the Senators to a 4-1 win over the #Pirates in game 1. Traynor’s HR didn’t matter. Meadows had just one bad inning, the 5th, giving up 3 1Bs to load the bases & then a 2-run 1B by Sam Rice. #WorldSeries

10/7/1925: The defending pennant-winning #NewYork Giants had a great 1st half, but lost the lead to the #Pirates for good on Aug 2 when they started a 6 game slide. #Pittsburgh never faulted after that. 95 is their most wins since they won the #WorldSeries in 1909. Game one of the WS starts today.

10/7/1925: The #Athletics fell out of 1st on Aug 20 & then went on a 12 game losing streak allowing the #Senators to coast to their 2nd pennant in a row. We #Yankees posted our worst record in the Ruth era & the #RedSox had their worst season since '06. DC looks to defend their crown starting today.

10/6/1925: 2 days ago the Evening World invited me, #golfer Leon Diegel, #angler Edwin Harkins, #archer Paul Crouch to compete in 9 holes of an odd kind of #golf at the Belleclaire course in #Queens. I won w/32 throws; then came Diegel w/33 strokes, Crouch w/33 arrows & Harkins w/45 casts. #Yankees

10/6/1925: This year Bob Meusel became the 2nd Yankee to have 30 HRs in a season & just the 6th Major Leaguer ever (Ruth, Tillie Walker, Ken Williams, Rogers Hornsby, Ken Williams, Cy Williams). He, Ruth & I mark the 1st time 3 teammates have hit 20 in a season. Hornsby led all us all w/39. #Yankees

10/5/1925: Hornsby hit .400 & Heilmann went 6 for 9 on his last day to win the '25 batting crowns. 3rd time Rajah's hit .400 (joining Ty Cobb & Ed Delahanty). In fact, from '21 to '25 Hornsby has hit .402! Al Simmons (only 23) finished with 253 hits! #Tigers #Cardinals #Althietics

10/4/1925: Today in #StLouis, fans got their $s worth. They saw Heilmann go 6 for 9 for the day win the batting crown & during gm 2, down 11-5 after 6, they saw George Sisler come into shut down the #Tigers for 2 inn. Not to be outdone, Ty Cobb came into pitch a 1-2-3 inning before darkness fell.

10/3/1925: A season’s final inning for the ages. Groves on the mound in relief. 1 out. Down 1 run. Paschal 2Bs. Speedy Durocher PRs. Combs 1Bs him in & gets to 2B. On Koenig’s ground out to 2B, Combs gets to 3rd but keeps running home to score! P.S. Meusel & Ruth both HRed. #Yankees 9 #Athletics 8.

10/2/1925: The #Athletics trounced us 10-0. Baumgartner’s given us trouble all year & today was the worst of it. Shut us out on 6 H. I’m now 0-9 against him. Dykes made 5 H on just 5 pitched balls, including a 3B & HR. Huggins gave the new kid Durocher a chance to hit today. Leo flew to RF. #Yankees

9/28/1925 (gm 2): Ruth (HR & 2B) & I (2 2Bs) knocked Dauss out after 5, but #Tigers reliever Doyle shut us down after that & swatted 2 HRs off Shields; so it was tied 6-6 in the bottom of the 9th. That's when Doyle BBed (not consecutively) Combs, Ruth (on purpose), me & Schang to lose it. #Yankees

9/28/1925 (gm 1): Hoyt was in command til the 7th when (w/the bases full) Blue rifled a terrific liner which rolled to the wall for a HR. Then in the 8th Wingo 2Bed w/the bases loaded & that was that. Holloway was mostly unhittable, save for Ruth's RBI 1B & HR. & I had 18 POs! #Tigers 6, #Yankees 2

9/27/1925 (gm2): Stoner & Pennock had themselves a nice little duel going, but bc the 1st game went so long, darkness fell & a tie was declared, 1-1. We got our run on a Shanks SF; they got theirs on Heilmann's HR, who's batting .387, 2 pts behind Speaker w/just a week left to play. #Tigers #Yankees

9/27/1925 (gm1): Jones was sent packing early today as #Detriot scored 6 off him in the 4th on nothing but 1Bs. Braxton did a nice job in long relief, but when Johnson came in the 9th, it looked like batting practice all over again. Ruth & Meusel both HRed, but for naught. #Tigers 10, #Yankees 5.

9/26/1925: Shocker, who kept the #Tigers guessing all day, took a Heilmann liner to the leg in the 8th so Hoyt came in to finish the job. Won it 3-1. My HR in the 2nd landed on the other side of the exit gate! We're now the 1st team ever to have 3 players with 20 HRs (me, Meusel & Ruth). #Yankees

9/24/1925: Every boy's dream: Down by 3 in the bottom of the 10th, Pipp, Combs & Koenig load the bases & it's Ruth's turn to bat. He wallops one into the RF bleachers! Fans flood the field. Ruth fights his way thru the cheering mob to touch home. Never seen anything like it. #Yankees 6, #WhiteSox 5.

9/24/1925: Braxton, who pitched great ball in #Springfield all summer, won his debut w/us yesterday, 7-6, w/a lot of grit & w/a lot of help from poor #WhiteSox fielding. Although #Chicago banged 10 hits off Braxton, Lyons suffered 6 unearned runs, highlighted by Ruth's 3-run 2B in the 5th. #Yankees

9/22/1925: The #WhiteSox won the nightcap, 4-2, behind some solid pitching by Blankenship. Johnson was equally as good, but just not as lucky. #Chicago scored one of their runs off an error by Ruth & another off a GIDP. In the 6th inning, Meusel hit his 2nd HR of the day & 31st of the year! #Yankees
