Yes, false. I checked this with LISS Panel Data some time ago: social democrats don't flow to the far right much. Not now, not in earlier elections. (old WIP plot, might need to resuscitate this at some point..).

Great advice by @catherinedevries.bsky.social on breaking down bigger research projects. For my fellow grads: 4 years ago I would have felt guilty not sitting in front of my screen. Over the years I've realized that my most productive moments are spent away from my screen.

Farmers are protesting in Westminster, what might the political consequences be?

Our research on farmer protests in πŸ‡³πŸ‡± provides some clues.

osf.io/preprints/os...

Bottom line: due to popularity of farmers + media bias, this likely creates major political headache for Starmer government.

🚨NEW PAPER ALERT 🚨

Together with @dirckdekleer.bsky.social & @simonvanteutem.bsky.social, I wrote a paper about public opinion about climate protests in πŸ‡³πŸ‡±

We find a bias in public support for & tabloid reporting on protests, favouring farmers over climate activists πŸ‘‡

One of the most striking charts from our paper imo is this one:

The vast majority of Economics PhDs at top-ranked programs have a parent with a *graduate* degree - particularly among the American students.

That is, we are drawing from an extremely narrow socioeconomic pool.

Learned a lot summarizing
@acooperman.bsky.social 's new APSR
