What’s funny is that I drew this before coming up with the name DROPNET, and Im just now realizing the hexflower looks like a net

I was going for a wave look, but I wanted the grid to be clear enough to be playable

Anywho, remembering a YouTube video I saw years ago talking about that game is what made me what to turn this mechanic into a VATS system

I’m excited to see what people do with cumulative hexflowers!

The radial target is sectioned out by playing card suit and rank

You can place the bullseye on any part of the gunslinger, lets say the gun in his hand, and you draw a card to see where your shot lands

It’s essentially an overcomplicated dice drop table, that looks really cool

For the life of me I cannot remember the name of this TTRPG, but there’s an older Wild West one that uses a this radial target printed on a clear acetate sheet that you lay ontop of a printout of a gunslinger

Hey, every game I’ve ever made has been for myself, and I’m still trying to make exactly what I’m looking for in a game. I love seeing people’s passion projects

My biggest problem is having a significant amount time to think about game design, and almost no time to actually play them 😅

I surprised myself when I realized it can score between 1-20 exactly, making D20 random tables the obvious choice

Unfortunately I lack the skill in writing those random tables, so I didn’t include an example

Thought 2 continued: Shadow Clusters

The large shadows could be a school of small fish, or maybe one large fish! The small shadows could be a treasure chest or an old boot

This way you could have like a handful of random tables assigned to hit boxes

My second thought involves a set of 5 cards numbered 1-5

Each turn you play a card indicating how many spaces you want to move, then roll a d6 to randomize the direction

You have perfect knowledge of what fish are where, and there are plenty of fish in the flower

My first thought is you get a set amount of turns where you choose the direction, but the dice decide how far you go—but I think that breaks the spirit of the original blog post

So my wife and I are not religious, so seeing this drawing of a cross come home in my kids backpack caught my attention… then I saw the other sheet and realized they were figuring out how to papercaft a box for a game they were designing, which made a lot more sense. lol
