What’s funny is that I drew this before coming up with the name DROPNET, and Im just now realizing the hexflower looks like a net
I was going for a wave look, but I wanted the grid to be clear enough to be playable

Anywho, remembering a YouTube video I saw years ago talking about that game is what made me what to turn this mechanic into a VATS system
I’m excited to see what people do with cumulative hexflowers!
The radial target is sectioned out by playing card suit and rank
You can place the bullseye on any part of the gunslinger, lets say the gun in his hand, and you draw a card to see where your shot lands
It’s essentially an overcomplicated dice drop table, that looks really cool
For the life of me I cannot remember the name of this TTRPG, but there’s an older Wild West one that uses a this radial target printed on a clear acetate sheet that you lay ontop of a printout of a gunslinger

My biggest problem is having a significant amount time to think about game design, and almost no time to actually play them 😅
Ooo! I’ll have to check out your game

Unfortunately I lack the skill in writing those random tables, so I didn’t include an example
Toucan’t Blog: A Claw Machine Full Of Fish
“DROPNET” is my new TTRPG fishing minigame I wrote in under 6 hours, inspired by @tjslotus.bsky.social’s “Cumulative Hexflowers” post
Thought 2 continued: Shadow Clusters
The large shadows could be a school of small fish, or maybe one large fish! The small shadows could be a treasure chest or an old boot
This way you could have like a handful of random tables assigned to hit boxes
@tjslotus.bsky.social thoughts?
08.12.2025 23:37 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0My second thought involves a set of 5 cards numbered 1-5
Each turn you play a card indicating how many spaces you want to move, then roll a d6 to randomize the direction
You have perfect knowledge of what fish are where, and there are plenty of fish in the flower
My first thought is you get a set amount of turns where you choose the direction, but the dice decide how far you go—but I think that breaks the spirit of the original blog post

I've been working on something new and I'm stoked to show it off next week! Here's some mock-ups.

I was aiming for “a string of paper dolls” look, while having the silhouettes resemble the original tunnel goons cover
Also, sticking with the “OpenDyslexic” font I used for Prop Master because it’s easier for me to read (probably should talk to someone about that)
The games yearn for goblins who fall into the sky! Lol

I LOVE the idea of a daily writing prompt. I did #dungeon23 —this project eventually went on to be a dungeon for HIS MAJESTY THE WORM (link 🔽). For the past few months, I've been writing a hex a day.

When you level up, you gain a random benefit based on your race or class. Here's what dwarves get.
You can either roll a d7 for your house to get a result from a tightly-bound part of the table or roll a d50 to get anything from the entire table.
Check it out.
Some systems are better for new GMs, and some aren't! I said what I said.
