I’m grateful to Labour and Liberal Democrat councillors for their friendly and constructive amendments, which improved the motion. Cross-party working at its best.

There was also a debate about priorities — and a brief detour to Hoylake Beach — but we stayed focused on the real issue: our kids.

What we agreed:

✅ Develop proposals to support outdoor play
✅ Explore Play Streets & signage reviews
✅ Co-design with children, families, and residents
✅ Align with national play strategy
✅ Report back within 6 months

It’s not everything — but it’s a strong start.
