This was just 10 miles to the west of Watertown, South Dakota this afternoon.

Literal backyard tornadoes hit different, a whopping 10 miles from my apartment!

Rare bit of good news

Had a mostly disappointing bird photography session this evening that was salvaged by this cooperative Black-crowned Night Heron on my way home at sunset. Surprised it let me get as close as it did! #birds

A year ago today I had one of my favorite tornado experiences near Barney, North Dakota. This tornado was slow moving and highly visible while managing to last for well over 30 minutes without damaging any homes or structures!

I challenged myself to build a web app that you can use to tag a severe report and automatically generate a message to send the info to the proper NWS office. For now its optimized for X but hopefully can be used here in the future.

A new lifer for me, a White-eyed Vireo! These are quite the rarity for South Dakota so I was incredibly happy to be able to find two of them today! #birds
