The West and respecting minorities??? We need only glance upon the history of the British colonial empire to know that certainly isn't the case!

The West and respecting minorities??? We need only glance upon the history of the British colonial empire to know that certainly isn't the case!
21.02.2026 23:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The idea that "scientific inquiry" spawned from (our contemporary idea of) "the west" is absolutely bonkers in and of itself. Much of the earliest examples of science and mathematics are derived from Mesopotamia and the area around it, or, well, the Middle East.
21.02.2026 23:08 β π 21 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Is it fine for people to move across the world solely to represent a country they have no connection to, just to access better resources? Should a few wealthy countries dominate in medals won because they have all the resources?
I think, perhaps, it really isn't a big deal.
Defining people by nationality is always going to be tricky and kinda arbitrary. When the US wins a medal, what does that mean? That we care a lot about skiing? That we're natural born talents? That we have the best techniques? Or that we have a lot of resources? Does it matter?
19.02.2026 23:43 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Like, it's the Democrat's job to MOVE people to vote first and foremost! If they can't do that, maybe we need to find some better options!!!
19.02.2026 23:08 β π 13 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That's what's so hard to explain to die hard Dems. Yes! I understand the importance of voting and that you think it's stupid they didn't vote! But what are you (and the Democratic Party) going to DO about it? Thousands of people will not just see your skeets and decide to change their minds!
19.02.2026 23:07 β π 12 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0look at my country man, weβre getting out-No Kingsβd by the fuckinβ british
19.02.2026 14:22 β π 24943 π 5180 π¬ 450 π 147I would throw all of my support behind a democrat who promised even one of these things. Government housing would help SO many people across the political spectrum!
19.02.2026 23:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You don't have to do every single one all at once. And these are popular policies. Look at raising the minimum wage. Red state Nebraska voted for it, even as they voted in Donald Trump. And canceling debt would boost the economy, not crash it.
19.02.2026 22:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0And we let it happen. Worse, we provide the tools. Grow a spine instead of resorting to "worse things could happen though!" Recognize an injustice and demand its end. The longer it takes, the more people needlessly die.
19.02.2026 22:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0When real people are dying. That isn't some baseless emotional claim. I have seen parents collecting pieces of their children in garbage bags. Babies dying in hospitals that were targeted in bombing campaigns. People starving, because Israel refuses to let in aid.
19.02.2026 22:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0What else do you need? This isn't a Korean War situation where the US inserts itself in a conflict that we aren't involved in. We are the providers of the weapons. US companies are profiting. Israeli organizations give money to our politicians. It's ridiculous to shrug and say "well, who knows?"
19.02.2026 22:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We've tried giving you context: the previous administrations that have reigned in Israel, the tens of thousands in Palestine who are already dead or dying, the fact that Israel *relies* on the US for $ and weapons, and that Israel is the instigator and had attacked its neighbors unprovoked
19.02.2026 22:45 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0"Defected" "change sides" this is a friendly sports competition, not international war
19.02.2026 11:47 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We just stop sending them weapons, and stop assuming the outcome will be devastation either way.
19.02.2026 11:36 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So instead we should let Israel murder tens of thousands of civilians!
19.02.2026 03:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Where on earth did she say she was going to cap rent, build government housing, and break up the big monopolies?
19.02.2026 03:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Then.... why did you reply to me in the first place?? Now that's just silly
19.02.2026 01:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Whoa dawg. I'm sorry I assumed your response to me like six replies down the line is about the same topic. I don't really have anything to say about your certainty that the election was rigged.
19.02.2026 00:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If their wallets voted, do more to put money in the hands of working people! And I don't just mean tax breaks or things that will take years to see benefit. Cancel debts, cap rent, regulate grocery prices, break up the monopolies, build government housing.
19.02.2026 00:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Brother, idk what thread you're following but that *is* what the conversation has been about. Kamala's performance. Now, I don't think the election was full on stolen, or they wouldn't be jumping through hoops now to make sure the next one is. I think a lot of people felt a lot of desperation
19.02.2026 00:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Once again, presidential administrations have yanked the leash on Israel many times before. I really Do Not Care what the GOP has to say. Israel launched unprovoked attacks on Iran already. *They* are the instigators.
This is about the lives of real people who are being slaughtered with US weapons
I really cannot bolster Mills, being 78 years old, and not really meeting what I would call "progressive." She's liberal, sure, but certainly not pushing for substantial economic reform or worker protections. Jordan Wood however, seems pretty cool. I hope he wins the house seat he's running for
19.02.2026 00:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I mean yeah, that's absolutely shitty. Again, I'm not a fan of his. I just don't buy that he's a nazi, and I understand people's desperation for a candidate outside the status quo. Employed by Blackwater is the biggest red flag to me, and I think should be the focus of critique
19.02.2026 00:33 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Having money doesn't determine if someone can be pro-labor or not. The Blackwater thing is what people should be railing him on the most, imo.
19.02.2026 00:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Other administrations have reigned in Israel with a phone call. No, she wasn't the president, but she *was* the vice president. That comes with a lot of sway, and they know that. She was always going to judged on the actions of the Biden administration, which should have done more for Gaza
19.02.2026 00:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Okay so... you're down for overthrowing the government, but draw the line at criticizing Kamala Harris?
19.02.2026 00:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ok so... if voting doesn't work then, what do you want people to do??
17.02.2026 23:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I wouldn't necessarily say that, I've seen lots of people make hard shifts to pro-labor after being screwed over by employers. I'm not saying he's definitely a kind-hearted saint, but I'm not going to pretend I know for certain that he's an evil villain.
17.02.2026 18:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0What are you talking about
