Oh also you should be very excited about Zegras. It seems like Tocchet will use him properly and he will be surrounded by talent also. If used correctly he is one of the most creative and intelligent players I have seen

Lol hey you guys now have both Zegras and Drysdale. Should remove any of that resentment

First off thank you for the kind words about the show. They did play him at center for like 5-10 games early in the season. I think the game vs Detroit in November he played center. If you can find a game where he played with Gauthier and Killorn, then he was at center

Was that the same article that used GAR? If so I had a lot of questions about that article, specifically it seems like it was that guys own model that I have no idea about from a reliability perspective

Yzerman & Verbeek were working on this trade for a while; retention was a sticking point.

Really like this for Detroit. 2nd + 4th is a fine bet on a #1 goalie, in my mind.

Sources indicate that 1st + Anton Johansson was the ask earlier this year, happy that didn't happen. #LGRW

It definitely feels like he asks for the world and then caves and gives in even when he’s dealing from a position of strength. He did not need to move Gibson

28.06.2025 18:13 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The success of this deal will be determined by:

- Can Dostal continue his strong play as a bonafide number 1?
- Can Mrazek be a serviceable backup for 30-40 games?
- Will Gibson play like he did last season and be injury free?
- Will the Ducks spend within 6.4 mil of the cap in 26-27?

That Gibson trade is an interesting one. I think it’s an underwhelming return when you look at how long the Gibson trade saga has gone on, but also from a value perspective I think it’s about right when you consider the 6.4 mil in space in 26-27 that the Ducks get from this.

Yup. My view is if that’s your prerogative that’s fine, but it’s unlikely you will enjoy our podcast if that’s the case. Trying to have the AC ethos live on in the show

Oh personally I like Philly but I have a really close friend from there so a bit of personal bias

This trade sucks. That is all

This is not about the merits of Iran’s nuclear program. No president has the authority to bomb another country that does not pose an imminent threat to the US without the approval of Congress. This is an unambiguous impeachable offense.

With that Terry rumor on the other site, my view based on the latest tweet is that Terry was discussed as part of a package for a bigger player, but that does not mean he’s actively being shopped, just means that he is not untouchable.

IMO there are few players on the team that are untouchable

There will be a brand new @crashthepond.com podcast tonight. Tune in at 8 pm to hear mine and @felix.crashthepond.com’s reaction to the Kreider trade and the rumors around the Ducks!

16.06.2025 21:13 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 1

Fabbri tbf though resulted in the Ducks getting paid and was a 1 year contract so a bit different

12.06.2025 16:05 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Agreed. I think in a vacuum the Kreider deal is that but when you add in Trouba there is a pattern

12.06.2025 15:06 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I’m not saying I dislike the deal. Just that there is some nuance to it

12.06.2025 15:01 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I don’t disagree that it’s fine and he’s better than Trouba. But I do just question that understanding because essentially the Ducks have eaten like 14 mil from the rangers and gotten no additional assets for that when both players were on negative value deals.

12.06.2025 15:01 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Mid round for mid round will likely end up being a wash for all intents and purposes so the Ducks get Kreider, while the Rangers get full cap relief and Terrance.

Kreider will help the Ducks and won’t have long term cap implications, but I do question if Verbeek knows how to leverage his cap space

12.06.2025 14:55 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Completely agreed. If this is it, then it’s not enough to really move the needle for me, but if this is the fringe move and there are bigger ones to come then it’s a different story

11.06.2025 16:00 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

With it likely being Terrance and a pick, I am fine with the Kreider acquisition

11.06.2025 03:07 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Not this week but we will be back next week with a regular episode

10.06.2025 04:37 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The Ducks are uniquely positioned to make this happen in a way that won’t hurt them long term
