I like the Yaris. I actually really like tiny cars too but Courtney wants something a little bigger, but not too big. A Goldilocks car, if you will. Something that will comfortably fit us and the dogs and some camping gear.

I'm hoping to find something under a hundred. Maybe around 80 or so. When we started looking we saw a 2019 Chevy Spark with, I kid you not, 7500 miles on it. We test drove it and everything. She unfortunately thought it was TOO small. Not a car I would've thought of, but with that mileage, dang.

I love my first generation Ridgeline. I think Honda is a great brand overall. The wife is gonna pick what the wife wants though, haha

Lol. I've been trying to convince her to get a Fit since before we even started looking at cars. It wasn't even one she was considering until I convinced her to look at one yesterday. We took it for a test drive and she decided it is actually pretty nice. I plan on advocating for it more but...🤷

Spent yesterday driving around the Chicago area looking at cars. I think she narrowed it down to either a Subaru Forester/Outback/Crosstrek or a Honda Fit. Obviously the Honda is the better choice as far as reliability and longevity but I do like the idea of the all wheel drive of the Subes.

Courtney got her learner's permit today. I went up to her work on her lunch break and she practiced driving around an empty parking lot. It was her first time behind the wheel in over 20 years. It was my first time ever seeing her drive!

Spent the last couple hours preparing to go look at some cars in the Quad Cities tomorrow morning. Found five possibles at 4 different dealerships. Printed out the Carfax reports and did some research on each. Feeling somewhat prepared.

These are wood too. Hope they last. I spent ~$25 for both of them. Pretty happy with the set so far.

I got them at Marshalls, haha. Actually I saw the pepper one at a Marshalls, didn't buy it, saw the salt one at a different Marshalls, bought it, and went back to the other Marshalls for the pepper one.

Yeah, there's no mass transit here. Courtney hasn't driven in over 20 years but she's studying to take the driving test to start driving again just to increase her job opportunities. Tough to not drive here.

Haha. Yeah, my little run down podunk town doesn't have a ton going for it, but it's cheap! That's the only reason I moved here. 2 hours from Chicago though. Culture is within a reasonable drive.

Living here has inspired her to get back on the horse, so to speak. I'm pushing for her to get a used Honda Fit. It would be good if we had something that got better gas mileage than our truck.

We're currently looking for a second car to buy. Courtney is planning on taking the driving test soon to get her license for the first time in over 20 years. She drove for a few years after she turned 16 in Michigan but never had a car or got her license after moving to California in her 20s.

Took a family photo on our walk yesterday using the selfie stick I bought years ago and have used, like, twice.

We adopted this little yellow parakeet yesterday. She came from a hoarder situation where she lived with over 150 other parakeets. We found her on a pet rescue website. We decided to name her Taxi. You know, because responds to being flagged down. J/k, it's cuz she's yellow.

Bought my tickets to see the Best Show tour live in Chicago! I mean, I have a mouse with a cape tattoo. I'm kinda obligated to go, haha. Really looking forward to it.

We're picking up a rescue parakeet tomorrow. Our parakeet Wrigley has been lonely since our other parakeet Poppy passed away a few weeks ago. Wrigley won't leave our cockatiel Tweety alone and Tweety is 28 years old and much like Roger Murtaugh, he's too old for that shit.
