This whole thread needs to be read by anyone in campaign work.

There are huge lessons here about how to appeal to a broad audience, not just immediate followers.

Also lines up with everything I wrote this morning about the need for positive, hopeful vision right now that appeals to the masses.

A Palestinian girl cries out for food with her hands held out at a charity kitchen amid the famine in Gaza. She is surrounded by other young, anguished children. This photo was taken on Thurs July 11, 2025 after at least 10 children were killed by an Israeli strike as they queued outside a medical point. More Palestinians have now been killed just waiting for food than the number of victims killed in the Hamas terrorist attack of October 7.

Gaza is now officially in IPC Phase 5, the final stage of hunger. Designated as 'catastrophe'.

A further 67 of the starving were killed by IDF soldiers yesterday trying to access food. Witnesses say the victims had their hands held in the air.

One day, everyone will have always been against this.

How we can smash Britain’s two-party system for good at the next election | George Monbiot Labour is beyond repair. Time for a co-ordinated strategy to support progressive parties committed to electoral reform, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

By betraying his voters so comprehensively and so soon, Keir Starmer has done us a favour. He has given us 4 years to design the government we want.
In this week's column I explain how it can be done. There's massive
potential, but we need to start now. 🧡

Fortune 500 company abruptly fires lawyer who helped immigrant family On March 4, Clay Jackson, an attorney in the Dallas area, was at a gas station near his home when the attendant asked if he would help a local immigrant family.

1. Clay Jackson, a Texas lawyer, provided basic legal advice to an immigrant family fearing deportation

Then, two officers visited him at his home, accusing him of "obstructing an ongoing immigration investigation"

Then, after speaking publicly, he was fired from his job at a Fortune 500 company

The ECFR Council The ECFR Council is the strongest and most visible expression of ECFR’s pan-European identity. It has grown from 50 founding members in 2007 to over 330 members from across Europe.

I’m honoured and excited to join the European Council on Foreign Relations (@ecfr.eu) as a Council member.

The Council is an extraordinary network of over 300 influential voices - politicians, academics, civil society leaders - across Europe.

A crucial time for this work.

On Organizing time to level up / an early draft of a playbook

One of the best texts on organizing I have ever read.

Movements with just *3.5% participation* have toppled regimes.

Organising needs: trust, creativity and tactical planning.

The CDU asks in parliamentary inquiry for information about the organizations and background of "protests against the CDU", including "Grannies against the Right".

Very disturbing and part of a dangerous authoritarian trend to criminalize protest within "mainstream" parties in Europe.

More importantly, as always, SPD is NOT the main supplier of new AfD voters.

Most new AfD voters did not vote in 2021 (not only first voters!).

Right-wing parties CDU and FDP were main suppliers.

Despite hype, BSW took virtually nothing from AfD.

This is a capitulation to a brutalist way of working - the exact set of values we work to defeat.

To be sure, we all make mistakes in leadership, I certainly have, but this is a palpable shift for the worse right now.

Are more people seeing this?

The most important act of resistance is staying true to our values.

All across human rights movements I am seeing extreme examples, several in just the last TWO weeks, of excellent leaders being dismissed for no reason, boards stepping in out of fear, or people being threatened out of jobs.
