Today we learned Andrew Cuomo is directly coordinating with Donald Trump, even as this President sends masked agents to rip our neighbors off the streets and guts the social services so many New Yorkers rely on.

It’s disqualifying and a betrayal of our city.

Arrest after cyclist pushed off Sandown seawall on Isle of Wight The woman, in her 60s, had been cycling along Culver Parade in Sandown, police say.

This is the second such story in a couple of days.

I often think how easy it would be for someone to shove me into the road when I’m cycling.

The design of our infra (shared paths, low social safety) and the intersection of anti-bike culture & misogyny enable this.

Joined this for first time last week and it was great. Super chill and nice slow pace, great mix of people and bikes of all ages and shapes! Some parents there with kids, everyone welcome, so get on down next month.

Birmingham City Council have now launched their parking charges consultations for a number of parks in the city.

Please support them. It’s about time we ended the scandal of using taxpayer money to subside drivers at the expense of everyone else.

You should pay to store your car on our parks.

This is how you do it.

Run a concrete barrier through car-dominated public space, giving a portion to non-car mobility. Done.

Doesn't require tech or much expense, just political leadership.

You can't police your way to mobility justice.

You have to do something harder: redistribute public space.

I think a fair bit of pro active travel campaiging language - "leave the car at home," etc. - also reinforces the idea of car owner as default.

Whichever way you spin the numbers, there is certainly a large proportion who don't drive, and are largely ignored or penalised by the state with poor and expensive public transport, and bad active travel links.

This man is a danger, as are the policy makers who won't build networks of protected cycle lanes.

Every time I have a negative encounter when commuting along the canals I think "we're fighting over the scraps here while car owners enjoy having all the road space reserved for them."

Good. The last thing Birmingham city center needs is even more space reserved for car parking.

Oh boy. As I know you know, 2005, when that book and Westad's Global Cold War both came out, is the before-and-after watershed moment in "cold war" historiography. Now fully two decades ago!

The Home Secretary says β€œThis isn’t about Palestine.”

But everyone can see the truth.

They’re arming a genocide and criminalising those who speak out.

This is how fascism begins.

We must stand up. For Palestine. For all our rights. For democracy.

QMUL paid a quarter million pounds to QS ranking.

That’s what those league tables do: they extract money out of universities for a game that relies on other universities somehow mysteriously not being absolutely brilliant anymore & pretending we can turn things that can’t be qualified into metrics.

An ad for electric car charging featuring yet another paved car park in Birmingham.

Got a reminder in the post of how a "green" transition isn't necessarily a just transition.

Housing, a park, a skatepark, etc., etc.... Just think about all the positive uses this space could be put to.

Journey times up, deaths down: Welsh 20mph speed limit still divisive two years on Protests continue against default lower limit in urban areas that supporters say is working β€˜exactly as intended’

On the one hand, far fewer people are being killed. On the other, some people get to work two minutes later. So it's impossible to say whether it's good or not.
