26.10.2025 19:06 — 👍 39 🔁 20 💬 2 📌 3I wonder if that’s also behind a lot of the very bad reviews I saw. This was a movie with many flaws so I expected some, but if there was an existing fan base and the first big outing wasn’t what they expected, doubly so if they crowdfunded, then that would explain the extra vitriol
27.10.2025 21:51 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Watched most of the credits and saw tons of everything, more than a movie would usually have. The YouTube credits seemed weird but by the time the crowdfunding credits started I had an idea of what happened. A little looking shows me the director has worked a lot on YouTube before
27.10.2025 21:51 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Knew nothing going in and found the documentary portions an odd fit with the rest, but mostly chalked that up to lack of finish since it does come back towards the end. Then I saw all the producer and co-producer credits at the start of the end credits and that perked my ears up
27.10.2025 21:51 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Movie poster for Shelby Oaks. Black background with a torso up shot of a woman with long hair wearing a hoodie and looking at the camera. The lighting is so severe you can’t really make anything out about her face or any details beyond long hair with bangs. Tagline and title on top, festival and production tags on the bottom, all in white
Current again with #100HorrorMoviesin92Days 103, Shelby Oaks (2025, in theaters now). I liked this one a lot even with the odd structure and same lack of finish as Black Phone 2. As noted elsewhere I love a desperate, grieving woman going too far down the wrong road and ending up in A Bad Place

27.10.2025 17:20 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Of course these chucklefucks will put Sandin on IR since he’s missed a couple games already and they can always trot out the ol’ traffic cone to mash his face into the boards when he tries (and mostly fails) to hit an actual NHLer

27.10.2025 13:52 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I’m reluctant to mention them together because their work is not similar but I think Scott Derrickson and C Robert Cargill might be in the batting average conversation with Benson & Moorhead in the partnership category
27.10.2025 04:59 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0It didn’t really do anything new but it was very successful in whatever it did (excepting the superfluous final shot jump scare, the only blight). It’s rare that I like a movie this much and there’s no notable new-to-me actress involved. I bet the sequel is disappointing but I will be finding out
27.10.2025 04:55 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Movie poster for Sinister. It’s a warmer version of the standard palette. The image is an older child, maybe a tween, wearing long sleeved pajamas and walking right to left along a wall. The child has a bloody back and right arm and is leaving a large bloody streak on the wall behind them, notably including a face in the right third. Producer tags on top in white, title and tagline center top in red, usual text on the bottom also in red
102 in #100HorrorMoviesin92Days, Sinister (2012), I thought I had seen but turns out I had not. Great sweater on Hawke for much of it and James Ransone as Deputy So and So is a treat. I liked this one a lot. Lots of The Ring vibes, though lacking Naomi Watts (which is a shame)

27.10.2025 02:09 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Having the “you moved us into the murder house?” talk because your daughter made friends with a ghost. Least believable part of this movie so far is that the wife has not simply murdered the husband for gross and intentional fucking up
